Takeover News/Rumours - Part 42

Again, the manager isn't the most important appointment. Neither is whether the fanbase thinks the manager appointment is an underwhelming one. Some of the reactions to missing out on a manager who, let's be honest, was as likely to throw a hissy fit over some minor thing and shit on the boardroom floor as he was to get us promoted is fairly astonishing tbh. Don't get me wrong, I can completely understand it given the fanbase is shellshocked by the most dispiriting 2.5 years in our history. But let's just gain some perspective. Donald out and KLD in is undoubtedly a good thing. A sporting director appointed is undoubtedly a good thing. If the the fans are viewing the appointment of Danny Cowley or Lee Johnson as the straw that breaks the camels back, I'm sorry but they need to catch themselves the fuck on.

aye I’ve just said something similar over on 606. 2 weeks ago I’d of been happy with cowley after seeing his soccer am interview. Came across well and seems like he’s always trying to keep ahead with this “footballing bible” they’ve developed over time.

I think the poyet thing means anyone who gets mentioned now is a bit underwhelming but it doesn’t mean they won’t be as good if not better. Think people would prefer a European name as a statement but for me I’m in agreement with you, they have to fit the structure going forward, be onboard with it and accept it. If they don’t we will be no further forward.

If thats the case about cowley then it seems like they must have gone back on the sporting director aye. f***ing hell sounds very amateur
Or Cowley backed down on that being his terms. Regardless of where we find ourselves I would still like to think that we hold the upper in negotiations with the Cowley bros. I doubt we’d bin off another appointment and whatever plans we had for their sake.

Thing is though theyve made it clear they dont want to work under a director of football . Are we going to ditch that already? That would be ridiculous

Well if rodwell is involved in it which looks likely then anything is possible

no we shouldn’t and if that’s the case we fuck them off and move on. If we weren’t gonna bin the idea for poyet we certainly shouldn’t for those two. There’s plenty out there willing and used to working in that set up.

I had seen that but do you not think, to have the opportunity to manage a club of Sunderland’s size, they might compromise a little and agree to work under certain constraints with the right person?

It’s a third option for you to consider anyway.

Hopefully. Tbf the way we've lurched from one shambles to another over the last 7 or 8 years has just conditioned me to automatically think the worst!

Taking a step back for a sec do you genuinely reckon the club/new owner would decide on a strategy, spend time and money recruiting a SpD just to sack it all off because the Cowley brothers want control when we apparently wouldn’t for Poyet.

I really can’t reasonably see it myself.

That’s true mind.

Poyet was done but the DoF blew it. It was never about £ for him, it was a chance to reunite the fanbase and to make a statement.
And how was poyet going to reunite the fans, he did well last time in spells, but lost the plot at the end.

I honestly dont know. If they are letting jim rodwell have a big say then you have to question them

There is nothing tangible that anything about this takeover hasn't emanated from the twats within the club ...

Somebody please show me something that is real from the prospective new owners.

The leaking has become toxic and people are being used and hopes are being raised falsely

What’s your feeling on the Cowleys mate?
I'm generally okay with it. The control aspect is a potential concern. But if that isn't a problem I'd be fine with it. And if it was the reason that we didn't get Poyet (as speculated) then I doubt we'll compromise for Cowley. He's generally been a success everywhere he's been. Ultimately I reckon all the potential candidates have fairly significant drawbacks - Poyet included. The whole thing comes down to getting a SpD in and the takeover done. So long as they get done I'm relatively content with everything else.
