You hear presenter's on BBC breakfast using the term people of colour and they are still sat in their seats. And on Sky sports news too. They have wanted this bloke out for years.

Loads of terms used when I was a kid would not be acceptable now but fuck it. One of my mates from school was a black lad and his nick name was chalkie. Still is too he is in his 50 now. He was one of the lads. No issues at all
Good mate of mines nickname is chalky too.

wait till I tell him he’s now being labelled as ā€˜blended heritage’.

Worked on a job with a lad last night from the Midlands ,he was black and introduced his name a chalky

Just seen more of the video and he goes much further than just letting the "coloured" word slip out. He does revert to stereotyping and made sweeping statements about career choices and representation of people from different ethnic backgrounds. came across as clumsy and ill informed when he should be the most highly informed in the football world. Very poor show.

Given that the whole context of the clip is that he’s clearly speaking out in support of LGBT and rooting out homophobia and other formers of bigotry, I think it’s a bit of a stretch to perceive ill intent and want to cancel the bloke for errrr anti-gay bigotry.
I agree with this. People of colour is ok and that’s what he meant really and the intention is good the rest is just trends in linguistics. I’m all for tackling racism and homophobia but this seems a bit of an overreaction.

Said being gay was a ā€œlife choiceā€, that women don’t like footballs being kicked at them hard, and that Asian people don’t want to play football because they’d rather work in IT.

But aye it’s PC gone mad.
I am reversing my opinion, it’s good riddance

the focus on the black comments in this is baffling

No it wasn’t but are you going to sit here and tell me he deliberately tried to offend people and he’s a racist? Who amongst us hasn’t said something that they’ve not meant to or that they later regret?

Now he’s out of a job because the usual suspects are up in arms, I suspect many of them will be hypocrites.

I've been corrected for my use of language before when someone was offended after which I've apologised and thanked the person for pointing it out.It really shouldn't be a resigning/sacking matter unless it is repeated use, there was intent or linked to discriminatory actions.

The bloke is an absolute f***ing dinosaur. He made 3 or 4 terrible comments today, and it's not as if it's the first time - he's got a track record with this stuff.

It doesn't surprise me that the right wing snowflakes are out in force about this stuff but it's not the same as an old bloke saying the wrong thing in a pub. This man is head of an organisation and absolutely has to keep on top of this kind of stuff. Most companies these days have about half a dozen diversity courses and conferences every year these days, it's not exactly difficult.

As for comments about Asians preferring to work in IT and homosexuality being a lifestyle choice, that's just pathetic. Imagine thinking like that or trying to defend it.

He should be sacked for incompetence, not racism.

The OP shows a tweet from Stan Collymire which only focused on him using the term coloured which is why the focus of the thread was on that.
If he also said the other remarks then he’s an absolute idiot and deserves what he gets.

I think we're meant to ignore these so we can pretend this is another example of why racism doesn't exist.

This.

It's hard to keep up.

One week black is OK. Next week it isn't. Then it changes back.

I was speaking to the police about something I'd witnessed, I had to ask them if 'mixed race' was still an acceptable term.

Apparently not, it's now 'blended heritage' but I hadn't seen the memo.

It's probably changed again since.
Blended heritage is crazy. How do you find the latest term? I would be sitting there longer than Rumplestiltskin before I could possibly imagine that term.
