New Music Releases Thread

There are new releases this week from Andrew Bird, Bring Me The Horizon, Common, Eels, Elvis Costello, Goo Goo Dolls, Mr Bungle, Nothing, Oneohtrix Point Never, Puscifer, Sam Smith, Suuns (an EP), The Spits, Tobacco, War On Women, Jim White and Sun Ra Arkestra.
Not a great week.

Eels and Oneohtrix Point Never. Suuns as well I guess

Discovered Told Slant yesterday, really enjoyable

Common and Eels for me. Also heard an Americana/folk artist called Sam Morrow (not the former Hibs and Ross County striker) this week who has an album out tomorrow that might be a decent listen.

Probably War on Women for me and Eels (and the missus will give Mr Bungle a listen)

New Mogwai announced for Feb

That’s a strange pairing mind. Love them both like
Yeah, a little. I'll be honest, I didn't last the full PC set (I like some of their stuff, but they're a bit too hit and miss for me....and it was getting late...and we had to get back to NJ....and ). Mogwai and Screaming Females were ridiculously good. It must be frustrating to go that long without doing what they do. Edit - was Queens, not Brooklyn

Downloaded the Bruce Springsteen album so will have a listen tomorrow.

Also saw a deluxe version of Sowing The Seeds Of Love released so downloaded that as I haven't listened to it in decades. Forgot how canny it was.

It was the album's making that split up Tears For Fears. Curt wanted meaning to the songs to be its driving force while Roland thought it ought to be about perfecting the production values.

Watched the Field Music stream last night. Their last performance of ‘Making a New Word.’ Was very enjoyable but the audio a little choppy so that was a shame. Talented those Brewis brothers.

That Sam Morrow album is very good. It only caught my eye because the cover artwork reminded me of Nick Shoulders. He doesn’t sound like Nick Shoukders but I’m very impressed

It’s very Bluesy Americana with a bit of a southern rock feel. Quite bare in its production (just guitar and drums on some tracks).

The new Midnight Oil 'mini-album' is great. Haven't really listened to them since Diesel and Dust and Blue Sky Mining in the 80s and 90s. Peter Garrett, the singer, diverted into politics and was an Aussie MP for a while, mainly advocating indigenous rights. This is a collaboration with aboriginal musicians.

Just been recommended someone called Austin Lucas who has a new album out today. Turns out he’s actually reasonably big even though I’d never heard of him. Alt-country stuff although his Wikipedia page says he’s folk-punk (maybe his early stuff is, I don’t know)

Bloody hell @Arkle you missed out the Jane McDonald album.
