I agree.

Many years ago, my mother (definitely not) had an accident which resulted in her needing an operation to rebuild the base of her spine. She was informed that without the operation she would be confined to a wheelchair within two years. In those days the procedure was still extremely risky, much more so than today, and she was also told that she only had a 1 in 5 chance of it being a success - even then it may not have resulted in her having the same level of mobility as before her accident.

She took the chance and the operation was a success - she was able to go for long walks with my dad and the dogs only months afterward.

Even today, she's fitter, and can walk further, than people many years younger than her. She's 76 years old.

Those generations are made of sterner stuff than some today - a 1 in 5 chance, to them, would definitely be pretty decent odds in their minds.
Completely different mate, by refusing the operation she wasn't risking giving a virus to other family members.

So she’s free to catch it and pass it onto somebody else before she realises. Very public spirited.
Yeah probably one of these people who say we should all stay indoors for the rest of our lives so they can hang on a few months longer

I did, she said she wasn't staying in because she is 84 and hasn't got a lot of time left.
And what else did she say?? I'd say you are more selfish, wanting her to stay in, because you think this will be over quicker if she does, so your life can get back to normal? Not giving two fucks that staying in could actually be detrimental to her and people in her age range and could actually kill them off quicker. But as long as you can get back to normal and get on with your life yeah??

She's happy to take her chance. As long as she stays away from those sheltering, I'm all for her to live her life as she wishes.
This
Just confirms the 18-30 and 70+ age groups are responsible for the spread imo.
There was a time, not too long ago, as recently as about 40 years ago in fact, when living past 70 was considered a decent innings.

Now the whole country is at a standstill because we got used to people living into their 80s.

I have been in self imposed lockdown since february , she will have been out more than me. Everything you wrote in the above paragraph is all about self interest and not others.

So what I've said is exactly true...you are hating on her, because you want to get back to normal quicker?

I have too mate but I believe that others should be able to live their lives, the whole world shouldn’t stop turning because I live with people who are vulnerable.

Yeah I understand obviously but it's more about people who are going in with a fall etc they're pretty much done as they'll catch it in there.

You'll also potentially cause a very very split Britain even more so than now as I'm following the rules pretty much to protect my family more so than myself. If you decide to take my family away then why should I follow the rules to protect others when the ones I was protecting were taken away.

I won't be the only one neither and I could imagine others reacting in even more extreme ways ie starting brawls in shops over people not wearing masks as you killed my family etc could turn very ugly fast.
Boris Johnson got a hospital bed straight away, because he’s got his life to live and does an important job.

Am not hating on anybody, am just trying to behave in a way that will be as safe as possible for me , my family and every other member of the public I may meet. That's all I expect her to do.

And she was, she was doing nothing wrong. She showed more concern for the future of a lost generation than those, locking themselves away, and those demanding lockdowns.
