IPL 2020

Banton did well in the Big Bash. Time wise Indians can watch the Big Bash but our cricket is overnight for them so Australians/Australian cricket get a lot more exposure.

You also get the impression Hales' card is marked, international cricket is a small world in many ways.

Yeah in general the Big Bash gets loads of press, like pundts here hold it as quality league, it really isn;t, the standard is much lower than the blast

Its a good idea to get yourself over there and make hay though as it will get you an IPL deal
Good lad

Interesting and inspired decision to open with Curran.

Curran is an unusal play, so small and slight but he really is a big 6 hitter, and hits the ball miles.

I reckon this an idea to get the best out of him, up the order, as if he plays 8 and just bowls, has a slog down the order, he probably isn't worth his place

for his long term development, back at Surrrey he needs to bat up there in short form I reckon
Banton is on 1 crore, same as what Hales was listed for. Nice try.

More likely the truth of it. Sandpaper boys fully rehabilitated but a quality player who likes the ladies and a bit of sniff has had his career completely kyboshed by the ECB.

Forgot about Big Bash, although Hales also outperformed him in that tournament.

Agree with this also

baffled by Smith captaining here, its no surprise to see them struggle, this isn't his best format, certainly not as captain

I understand Warner leading, but to go out of your way to make Smith captain, seems an odd move.

He has been opening this season, so many better openers than him in world cricket in this form.
there aint much depth to India's bowlers like, they have some world class seamers, but some of the other lads making up the numbers are awful

A coach will work very closely with his captain making it very difficult him to be wholly objective about him regarding selection i.e. biased. Can't see how that's makes no sense.

Yeah for selection on the side once draft has been completed yeah I agree.

But the debate for me was about who has got a contract is the first place and that is not decided by the coach alone, but by coaches and owners a like, meaning they pick what they think is the best squad to win games and will not exclude English players as the poster I was disagreeing with had suggests purely because they English imo.

I haven't seen a post which implies that English players aren't picked purely because of their nationality.

Post 183&187 mate, suggesting players get contract from other nations ahead of England.

Which I disagree with, simply think sides ignore nationality and just draft rightly or wrongly what they consider the best players.
