Apple Music saying it’s not out until the 16th so I assume it’s been delayed.
Yeah I enjoyed it on first go. My initial thought was that it could do with losing a track though as its slightly samey in parts. Looking forward to another spin later.Working Men’s club is really good on first listen, that good blend of guitars / electronics. The album closer at 12 minutes is a monster.
Roisin Murphy also sounds good on first listen. More house than disco I’d say which suits me.
This RM record is absolutely brilliant. Disco house music? I love it, pure joy.Working Men’s club is really good on first listen, that good blend of guitars / electronics. The album closer at 12 minutes is a monster.

Yeah it’s great. She’s excellent I think.
loads of good stuff this week, few more to listen to yet, so far...
Hot chip - mostly covers with a few of their own hoyed in. Very good.
Kurt vile - EP of John Prine covers and a few originals. love this, wish there was more.
Roisin - heard a few of the singles over last few weeks, this is great.
Drive by truckers - love it, but could do without the Ramones cover.
Fruit bats - another good album tainted by a dodgy cover.
And the odd one out...
Jaded hearts club band - on a par with Robbie Williams, tragic.
Aye, late night tales, it’s a continuous mix on Spotify. Is that the Hot Chip Late Night Tales album or something else?
Well, I've not listened to much over the last two days because of work, pies, vegetarians, vegetarian pies and the rest. Anyway from what I've listened to...
The Nude Party - starts a bit garage rock, gets a bit more sophisticated, wobbles a bit. Good in parts, not so much in others. 7/10
Working Men's Club - well, this is the slug daddy that eats the rabbit! Expected based on the earlier releases but they're exceptional. The lazy comparison is to say that they're a British LCD Soundsystem, I'm lazy so I'll make that comparison.
Brent Cobb - rather good relaxed Americana. Styles vary, hr tends to sound a bit stoned but it's all lovely.
I expected to listen to an album or two more but the Speedway GP went to a race off for second and third.
Part 2 of what may be a three or four part week:
Pet Shimmers - more of the same from them really. Slackerish indie with electronic undertones. Decent!
Elvis Perkins - sort of folkish soft rock. Nice enough but he's not really hit the heights of his first two albums, Ash Wednesday and In Dearland since.
Pacific Range - very Laurel Canyon sounding 70s ish Americana. Reminds me of Jonathan Wilson or The Chris Robinson Brotherhood.
Joachim Cooder - this is terrific from Ry's son! It's cover of songs by an old time American folkie, Uncle Dave Macon, played in part on instuments from the middle east and Africa (Turkish lute, African thumb piano etc.). He's got a really warm voice. Reminds me a little of Paul Simon.
Dawes - it's perfectly nice, pleasant songs, good musicianship, singer's got a good voice, just seems to be the same album they usually make.
Death Valley Girls - I like this a lot. Part 60s girl group, part early 80s post punk/goth cross. Interesting right through.
Jonsi - I guess this is fine in the absence of anything new from Sigur Ros. A mix of slower more ambient songs and some stuff aimed for the dancefloor.
Roisin Murphy - very good. Dancefloor oriented sophisto-pop basically. Is that a genre? Quality songs essentially.
Hello Forever - 60s pop harmonies, slightly psychedelic. Not sure it'd make my end of year top X list but it's an enjoyable piece of whimsy on a dull day.
I have this on for the first time now - enjoying it a lot.I’ve had the Joachim Cooder album on every day for a week. It’s absolutely gorgeous like.
It's there for me.Roisin Murphy is not on Spotify though
