Sale is close - Barnsey

Barnes only mistake was giving a rough timescale, not realising that most fans interpret that as a fixed deadline. At best, the date given was a hopeful wish. "Well, it would be nice to have it done by the start of the season". That guarantees nothing, and the timescale always looked hopelessly optimistic to me.

You can say timescales looked optimistic but Donald have been shooting his mouth off since December about no issues and expected a quick sale. He was saying 2 month max previously

The Marwood rumour has been doing the rounds for 5 years now :D I'd love it to happen but come on... he has one of the best jobs in football. I can't see him leaving it for us at this stage.
He's 60 now though mate. Circumstances change. City may now be looking at his age and someone may have had a quiet word in his ear. All things change.

No Nick Barnes made a massive mistake believing anything SD told him.

Still not quite done as of a few minutes ago:

On his transfer business: “We are not there yet, we are close to completing a deal before the weekend, which would be great for us. We will wait on one or two others.”
Parkinson added: “We have been speaking about Arbenit, he is a player we would like to bring in, he has good quality, can play across the back. We are close to bringing him in.
"That would be a boost for us."

Even if the Marwood thing is legit, there's no way he'd be already looking at new houses close to Sunderland before a takeover is complete, surely? It fell at the final hurdle last year, there's no guarantee a takeover will happen this time until the ink is dry.

Do we think both bits in bold are about arbenit or separate deals?
