Messi playing up front for us against Harrogate for 80 mins wouldnt have scored because there was zero support from central midfield. The one time a central midfielder moved forward with the ball with pace and acctually supported the striker we scored.

If we get the central midfileders being creative and supporting the striker we will go up this season. If not we wont. Thinking of this thread its a challenge for anyone that owns us tomorrow, next week or in October.
Bet Messi would have scored against Harrogate

Just summed up how these rumours work. One person with no track record says something positive and the forum runs with it despite the multiple posts saying no chance
all logical thinking goes out of the window with some. I have no doubt we are ripe for picking and would be a good investment if run properly but haway man, they wont be buying European contenders just yet. We need baby steps not a quantum leap

He did say a while back, the source had given his permission to be named once done. As the source would be no longer involved with the club iirc.
If the source gets a pay off when he leaves he will almost certainly be asked to sign a non disclosure agreement as a condition of receiving the payment. Such a payment might be in question if it turns out he talked out of turn before he left. The employer could seek to recover it for example. If he intends to seek employment elsewhere when he leaves he could be refused a reference by SAFC and/or be encumbered with a reputation of being indiscreet and giving away his employers confidences. Not good if you are looking for a position of some responsibility .

Even if none of the above applies the source could still be sued by SAFC for breaching the implied condition of confidentiality in his contract that every employer has a right to when they employ someone . Giving away even a former employer's secrets can be a very serious issue particularly if the matters that are or have been disclosed adversely affect the company's business. Leaving your employment therefore does not absolve you of any responsibility.

Aye, someone had said that. Just makes me all the more wary to be honest. I’ve no reason to suggest the lad isn’t being completely honest, I’d just be dubious about his source’s motives.

the more i hear, the less i think anything is happening other than maybe internal share redistribution or a bit of investment

i’d be amazed if Marwood is daft enough to even consider coming here, we’ll see though

Brian Marwood has been approached to be part of the 'reshuffle' and has accepted the terms provided it goes through. We are weeks away, at least, those saying things are close, are talking absolute cack unless something is agreed .. that isn't agreed .. to the present day i.e. now (which can happen).
Knowing Sunderland the source will have quoted the wrong ex Arsenal defender........up step Kenny Sansom!

Not saying Neil is the answer, that would be far too much pressure on an 18 year old, but it would show astonishing cautiousness if he didn’t start on Saturday.
I agree. Sometimes we have to give youth a chance...I think back when we bought Marco G in 87 and when threw in Jordan H in 2009. The two had an instant effect. Agree a lot of pressure on Neil but watching how uncreative and slow the central midfield was v Harrogate (admittedly first pre season game I have seen and it is pre season) before his introduction...maybe worth a gamble.

I think by all accounts Fraser was lined up to be the more creative midfielder but sounds like with the wage cap was the issue. As the transfer window deadline closes players may welcome lesser offers so he maybe an option again but if Neil gets an opportunity and seizes it so be it.

I keep seeing you say this about Harrogate mate and your right about the first part but Neil did not come on in centre mid. He replaced Gooch in one of the number 10 roles off the striker.

I’ve banged on about changing the balance of the two centre mids and Neil’s inclusion there would do that. But Parkinson hasn’t and won’t do that. I’d be amazed if Fraser was being brought in as anything other than an alternative for the Gooch and Maguire roles too, although I again agree I’d love to see him deeper.

Aye mate...whatever we do we are crying out for some pace and creativity from central midfield. The team is solid...if we crack that I think we will get promoted...if not it could be a long season.
