Poor way to get into the UEFA cup no doubt, we played some dreadful teams in the early rounds, but the later stages were pretty much household names. Some really big sides entered it. As I said, far better to play some meaningful games rather than friendlies.

i remember seeing some of the early opponents and cursing reidy, so stubborn.

risking quinn, phillips etc would be unwise but his flop rejects were mostly full internationals who could have cruised the games
if that had resulted in an away trip to spain or italy that would have been brilliant

Totally agree. Put the reserve side out for the early teams, hoy the big guns in later. Much better to see a competitive game than a friendly imo.
 
Meanwhile, Tyler is upset at the harassment he is getting. Coming from a bloke that stalked Richard Masters, videoed himself banging on the windows of the premiership HQ and harassed a female employee, he’s making a bigger bellend of himself.

At no point have I said we’re a big club. I pointed out it’s a bit strange to ridicule our European record, that’s all.

All I can recall of that Intertoto is an embarrassed Scott Parker holding a certificate. I just googled and found a wiki page -

I know we got a few byes and entered the competition at a later stage. Can’t remember how many games we played, but if it was only one, it seems a strange decision to dodge an invitation to play in it?

Nah we then went on to the maybe 2nd qualfiying round of the uefa cup, then final qualifying round, we played Ventspills and Levadia Tallin before entering the group stage
Also..
In 2001, we entered at intertoto round 3, then played a semi final and a final, in those games we played Lokeren, 1860 Munich then Troyes
