I agree with that BUT if he has persuaded 4 x serious backers who actually do impress us then he has done something which shows more substance than any of us think. The difference would be that Donald bought the club despite not having the money whereas Storey's backers would have to have the money.

Lets just clear this up a little. He hasn't and it's more of his standard speale (as a judge previously stated was in his character to do) to promise the world without any real way of backing it up. He was still asking people to back him two weeks ago.

That was not what he said last night at all. He said he had 4 x serious backers in place repeatedly.

Well if that’s the case and he’s talking shite then he won’t be taking us over and notes the bother

We. Don't. Know.

The club knows.

The club are talking to him.

The club must think they are credible.

He said people are right to be suspicious and worried based on what they have read.

He said once we knew the backers we would be happy.

He also said his name will be cleared soon.

Soooooo.....this may all be bollocks, or it may be true. Until we know one way or another, why write him off?

I just don't know why people are trying to justify his credibility because of the sort of people he has behind him when they have no idea what sort of people, if any, are behind him.

The bloke seems to be a complete laughing stock with a history of duboius detrimental deals and legal cases against him. He appears to have a company selling an energy drink that he claims to be worth 100 million but the website for the drink only sells hoodies and caps and the drink isn't available in any shop in the country. There does seem to be some being sold on Amazon now (there wasnt a few weeks ago) but thats enough to generate £100 million? Is it a front?

He's now rocked up at the stadium, paraded around town in a Sunderland shirt and met Rodell in a prevalent pub on the seafront to apparently discuss a deal after mocking everuone associated with the club publicly. I can't remember the club holding club sale talks in a pub prior to yesterday (were FPP doing their deal in a pub?) nor would I expect someone to bypass the owner of the football club next to where they live to discuss a takeover with an employee 100s of miles away. And then the club is reportedly already in a period of exclusivity with another party so making sure you are photographed liasing with another buyer in a pub in town hardly seems feesable.

But he said nice things on the radio like Stavely did.

If it's only their money and worth that impresses us then I'd take no more reassurance from that.
Sartori has the money, it means nothing.
You could say the same about FPP but everyone is gagging for them

I don’t think people are trying to defend him they’re pointing out that if he does takeover then he’s 15% of a consortium and without knowing who the other 85% are or what their plans are we can’t judge how successful that would be.

Totally agree but Donald is only going to sell if people have money - there can be no stupid games with the parachute. So this is really not about Storey but who are his 4 backers.

Yeah, all this malarkey around Storey isn’t the most critical element on the face of it. He did say of course that he would be Chairman and had already identified 5 players and frankly that sort of of talk worries me greatly - I hope it’s all just bullshit and bravado and there are the 4 blue chip backers, two of whom he said had been involved in sport. I don't want a renegade Chairman though and his background - public anyway - leaves a lot of cause for concern.

People are focusing on the money side of any deal whereas what we should really be worrying about is the fact that the club can't afford to have another set of owners coming in who don't know what they are doing or rather don't know what is required to provide the supporters with the club they deserve - by that I'm not necessarily talking about premiership football or trophies.

And if he takes over then he obviously had to have the cash available. If hr doesn't then no harm, no foul.

Storey's very public tour of the town centre was designed to attract attention but for what purpose and whose benefit? I doubt if prospective buyer's are required to provide Donald with a detailed description of the interior of Jacky White's when making their bid or that many of them feel the need hang around the Bridges.

Since his name popped out of the woodwork I have been convinced that we are being had on here.

Donald or his mate have concocted this game I’m convinced of it, there is no way this bloke is in for the club. All the sayings like we are great fans and a top club means nothing, we already know it all. I just want someone to come in get on with making us a top 7 club and shut the fuck up

The club weren't talking to him until his radio stunt yesterday. They are in a period of exclusivity with the other party.

I dont think he had a meeting at the club yeaterday, which makes you think that the club have not been taking his bid seriously. meeting up for a pint and some bait doesn't exactly scream the club have changed tact.

He did say he wants football people involved and supporters involved

Of course he's going to say it; he also said he sold 90 million cans in court and was quickly found to be lying and downgraded it to 3 million. Not sure what it takes for people to realise he enjoys to stretching the truth to fit his narrative.
Everyone understands that but the point is if that is what he’s doing then the whole thing won’t happen. If it does happen then it means that wasn’t what he was doing

I found yesterday pretty funny... was like a live version of 'Wheres Wally (Willy)' with people posting pictures of him in seemingly random places in Sunderland.... if he just changed his baseball cap for a red n white bobble we'd have had a winner

But if the club are in a period of exclusivity why would the CEO be having drinks with him? Something is happening, or has happened.
