Looks like a ScotRail train has derailed near Aberdeen following the bad weather they've had in the past 24 hours.

No pictures anywhere near the scene as far as I can tell on Twitter etc but a lot of smoke coming from the crash site.

Fingers crossed it looks worse than it actually is and everyone has got out ok.

Fingers crossed that people have gotten off the train safely, the smoke is worrying but there seems to be plenty of emergency services on the scene.

I'm currently camped about 20 mins south of stonehaven. The weather from 5am was horrendous. At various points it sounded like there was no actual breaks in the thunder and the river at the end of the field was a trickle and is now not far from bursting it's banks. Stonehaven has various streets underwater too. I wouldn't be surprised if the train has hit a landslide or some submerged track. Thankfully from about 10 it's been bright sunshine so the water will hopefully drain.

Fingers crossed no one is hurt.

I know someone who works the platforms/stations for Scotrail - 6 passengers and 3 staff on the train but no news yet on injuries etc (at least no news that he’s allowed to tell our group message)

So only 9 people on the whole train ?
Yeah.
Apparently it had been an earlier Aberdeen to Glasgow or Edinburgh train that had to terminate due to flooded tracks and was returning to Aberdeen after its shortened journey so it will have missed a lot of major stations.

The Aberdeen lockdown will have played a part as well.

There have been a couple of ambulances with sirens come down one of the 2 main routes to Dundee from Aberdeen in the last hour (I live about 200 yards from the dual carriageway), I wonder if they’ve been bringing some/all of the casualties down here instead of up to Aberdeen.

Another 2 have just gone the other direction (towards Stonehaven), sirens blazing, so I assume it must be related.
