Roker Rapport - Getting above their station or the voice of the fans??

They're alright. I tend to enjoy these types of things more when they act like fans, rather than wannabe journalists and do "deep analysis". Most of the time, they stay on the right side of that.

I don't listen to any of the lads podcasts consistently, I marginally prefer the Wise Men Say one, but that changes when Chris "check your facts or shut up" Wetherspoon is on. His disagreement with Donald seems to be a badge of honour that comes across as self indulgent.

The lad who does the What the falk podcast produces the most enjoyable material when he has former Sunderland players/managers on.

In general its good to have so much content about the lads.

Chris has been spot on in regards to everything to do with Donald. He saw through him very early on. He’s always got evidence to back up his argument too.

To be fair Chris has been name checked by the owner about 3 times, so he indulges him as much as anyone.
I think it’s important that an alternative view is presented by podcasts as opposed to the club line all of the time. Discussion is healthy.
For example, the Wise Men Say podcast with Tom White where they look at possible players to sign is excellent.

Fans have opinions do they not? RR is an outlet for the writers (who are fans) to voice their opinion. Some of those opinions you will agree with, others you won’t but that’s why people enjoy talking shite about football.
Even when the fan groups came together to express their dismay at the running of the club they didn’t try to claim to be unanimously representing the opinion of our entire fan base despite what Donald and Methven may have you try and believe. Rather they correctly stated that a proportion were massively pissed off which was perfectly true.
By putting themselves on a pedestal, the writers express their own views - never is it ‘Sunderland fans think this...’
I’ve got no ties to them and don’t know any of the writers personally but think they do a cracking job. Then again, that’s my opinion. Yours may be different but that’s what it’s all about.

I listen to and enjoy their podcasts. I’m not on Twitter so don’t see what what they’re like on there.

If I had to choose however I’d say Wise Men Say are better.

They do a cracking job if you ask me, but if you don’t like them, don’t follow them or read their stuff.

I don’t always agree with everything they say but that’s just football.

A bit like this forum, there appear to be a lot that disagree with most things and are antagonistic just for the sake of it, on the other hand there will be those that defend to the hilt whichever corner they have decided to stand in.
In summary
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.”

RR do some excellent stuff, I listened to quite a few podcasts during lockdown and when you consider it’s a few lads doing it for the love of following SAFC it’s bang on.

We’re pretty well served as a fan base podcast wise as the WMS stuff is very good too.

This. For years, the owner of the club has consistently tried to organise pile ons (before he hid from social media), refused to go on podcasts if he was there, regularly name checks the guy, etc. It's fairly obvious why (because he had him sussed), and the fact is that Chris Wetherspoon saw through Donald and co far before many / most SAFC fans. In fact, weirdly, there are some who still seem to give him the benefit of the doubt, or their default setting is to try and justify / excuse everything they have done on the grounds that Donald probably just got his words a bit mixed up and he seemed like a nice bloke when having a pint with him. So I think Chris Wetherspoon, having never been a part of that cosiness, does a great service for SAFC fans tbh.

I don't often listen to the podcasts any more, I prefer WMS when I do, but my issue with the podcasts - certainly RR - is how, when Donald took over and wanted to ingratiate themselves with the fans, they were like starstruck kids.

The only thing they're absolutely shocking at are the player ratings they do. Mind blowing some of the ratings they give!

There was a match last season when they were out 4 minutes after the final whistle. They can't possibly be written by someone who was actually physically at the game. So its not surprising that they are a mix of preconceptions and just focussing on the obvious.

Some really good articles, one or two writers that are terrible gobshites, some great podcasts and some very bad ones. Overall a good site from lads who care about the club and put good effort in with no reward. Did chuckle when I noticed the other day that they’ve purged twitter of their pro-Donald content though;)

Have you managed to bluff your way into Formula 1? And make a killing on a Zimbabwean Tobacco farm?

I'm not defending him btw, I want him nowhere near the club, but I do think Donald will sell to him if he can find a way to pay.
Donald will sell to anyone with the readies. His approach since he arrived was planned, getting supporters on side ,the seats, the amount money into the team building (although we now know it was false) seemed a pretty good strategy at first.. Once the question started on what were his intentions ,how he funded the purchase, that is when the disinformation , smoke and mirrors, deflections began, ending with his daughters kidnapping.. Lies and deception seem to take over at the club by whom and from whom we will probably never get to the bottom of although most have their own opinions. This William Storey is more than likely just another deflection incident in the debacle Stewie Donald has overseen these past two years...
