Having watched play off games tonight, if the owners hadn’t of spent most of the £49m odd parachute payments we received in last two years on buying the club, we would have walked this league surely ?

Couldn’t even get Lyle Taylor over the line and he was on a free. Him in Maja together last year and we would’ve walked the league. Didn’t. Didn’t need the parachute money to go up last year, just needed to offer Taylor a little bit more on wages.

we didn't even need taylor. had we kept maja until the end of the season, i'm sure his goals would have gained us an extra 7 pts needed for promotion

Taylor was always stopping in London it was never about the money

Taylor put on Twitter that he wanted to sign but wanted a goal bonus, which we were unwilling to offer. Maybe understandable at the time, but frustrating as fuck in hindsight. You're right that he would have 100% have made all the difference.

Maybe it was more about how you treat people, like for example not paying for a hotel as we all heard at the time.
Plus never heard of many footballers that have turned more down more money, if our recruitment team, thought he was the one, which he’s clearly shown looking back he is, then back your judgment and pay him that bit extra.
It would be money very well spent now, but everything’s short term thinking at our club imo.

Stop thinking and talking like a football fan that has ambitions for their club. You will get the experts along soon to give you the semantics of football finances.

He's a journey man pro. It's always about the money. He has a few years to earn enough to make him and his family financially secure for when he finishes football.

He's available on a free, maybe Stewie should go after him?

Has money really been the issue or how we spent it? Pretty sure we've spent more than all the others clubs since we have been in this league. Of course would could have blown millions more and done better but arguably we spent enough just employed the wrong people?

Surely would have been a ‘win win‘ situation as if he’s not scoring it’s not costing anymore and if he is...... Everyone is happy. Far to simple for us!!

I remember SD saying on a RR podcast that we expect our strikers to score, that's why we are paying them in the first place. Which is fair enough, but when it loses you the chance to sign what turns out to be the best player in the league....

Got to say the very idea of a striker receiving a goal 'bonus' is laughable horse shit. That said, the club should have stood the lad a hotel bill while he was up here.

It's how we spend it.
Even in the prem it was sign 3×£5m squad players at 15k per week.
When it should have been a £15m player on 45k per week.
