Tempted to come to Dublin for Black Country New Road next year. What’s Whelans like?
Whelans is a great venue, very small. Would be one of my favourites. Great pub too.
played there myself a few times with mates brothers band in a previous lifetime!

seeing as lankum came up they’ve just started a live gig stream from Kilkenny castle if anyone’s interested.

This is an interesting one, first time I’ve seen a proper, albeit reduced charge for a streamed gig (am sure it’s happened elsewhere) would you pay this, €12 for a streamed set?

No, but I'd be happy to support in different ways, buy a T shirt, album, future gig tickets.

I’ll be paying $5 for the Mahones “World Tour”. I probably would pay up to a tenner but no more.

I could be tempted by the Lightning Seeds Drive-in tour but need lockdown rules to allow kids stay overnight at their grandparents before my wife and I can do anything about tickets.

Also out today, 2nd album from Leeds band Galaxians. Electro, disco, female vocals. Sounds decent and getting bigger up by the Brewis brothers from field music.

got a busy day of listening today.

Also out today is Aussie “organ-led psych” band Beans which has been pushed by Flightless Records on social media and sounds like it might be decent.

Doesn't happen often, but yes.

When everyone was raving about Bowie's last album, I was disappointed. Have hardly listened to it since. I expected the same with the new Dylan (especially on the strength of Murder Most Foul, which I haven't got through to the end of yet), but I listened to the album twice yesterday and three times today. Great songs and many killer lines. Murder Most Foul, fortunately, is relegated to the bonus disc.

Blackstar is a stunning record. I suspect you have made an error in not listening to it more.
