A very powerful moment in British sport

I agree. Not quite sure why some people are so hot headed with it. In these troubled times it is a outward sign of respect. Show racism the red card campaign is similar.

Let's be honest nest, it's a particular type that are angry about it. The bullshit being sprayed about how it's not equality for blacks that's the issue, it's the hidden agenda of the foundation, is hilarious. Or coincidental that it just so happens to be coming from those who are right wing, moaned about the protests the other weekend (although forgot to mention political aims of the foundation being the issue), were supportive of Tommy's lot, voted leave and generally oppose immigration.

What good are your morals if you're picking and choosing where to apply them?

The Premier League are in no position to preach to anyone, purely just pandering to public sentiment.

Where would it end? There's too many people and communities that are discriminated against.

When you put your spare change into a charity tub, should you have to donate to every other charity in the world? Even if you agree with why they're raising money?

If you share a video of a dog being mistreated/abused because you want to bring the owners justice, should you share every video on the internet of animal abuse?

If a scientist is focusing his work on research curing Covid-19, should he not instead focus on all other diseases known to man and research them equally.

It's an awful argument.

I agree that many celebrities and companies pander to public sentiment, however. See my post a few posts back.

Why would they not want equality for black people is a better question.

My point is... they might not have wanted to get involved, though still believe in equality and deplore racism. They are pretty much being made to do this, which is not democratic.

Ha - don't hold back Mows  Nailed it though.

Is your argument really: "Stand up for absolutely everything or don't bother standing up for anything at all"?

Honestly I don't even know what it is they are protesting or what it is they want to achieve at this point.

This was all prompted by the murder of someone thousands of miles away, which may or may not have been racially motivated.

Then it seemed to have moved on to a protest about the slave trade, which we made a great national effort to eradicate in this country centuries ago. Now it's all very nebulous and ranges from attacking Churchill and the Cenotaph, requiring people to kneel and just generally making white people acknowledge how awful they are.

It now also means "defunding the police" as well as a commitment to "dismantle capitalism" and "patriarchy" (taken from the BLM fundraising page).

It's difficult to know what it is specifically they are taking a stand against, but whatever it is there would seem to be far more pressing matters, for example real actual slavery in the present day, that could use their energy and focus.

Because everyone can be shown to be a hypocrite
Because big changes require some change first

Well maybe they should make the changes they can to make a positive impact. Start by insisting that Premier League clubs won't take advantage of cheap, foreign labour. Don't let the Saudi's buy a club etc. There is plenty they can do.

To me this is just cheap and easy, and means nowt, but gives them all the positive praise that will lead to more financial gain.

Getting involved? They simply had to kneel to show support for a few seconds.

Suppose players are expected to wear the poppy, yet some, had personal reasons not to want to. And look at the shit they got for it. Were you understanding of McClean choosing not to?

As I've just posted, start with things that they are doing themselves to maintain the current white dominant society we live in.
