A very powerful moment in British sport

Was it powerful? We all new it was coming. Colin Kaepernick doing it was a powerful moment, Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the Olympics was powerful.

Exactly, this lot look like sheep
I'm sure solidarity with the people suffering was a quality that was admired in the northeast at one point. Fairly sure there was a moment in not so distant history where this was displayed and is still talked about. Those people weren't called sheep for their actions, they were lauded. Can't quite recall what it was though 🤔 *cough* miners' strikes *cough*

Part of making sure that all lives matter is making sure they’re all equal first.

Except that is often the mantra of the racist (not saying you are racist, or the person who made the original comment). Black Lives Matter doesn't mean 'Over Everyone Else', but that Black Lives matter...too. That is the nub of the statement and the protest. The initial All Lives matter came from right wing groups that tried to quieten the BLM message.

of course all lives matter - but until black people feel, and we can see, that they are treated fairly, and do not end being killed disproportionately because of the colour of their skin, then we have to recognise and stand up for those that are victims of a system that demonises them and holds little value for their lives because of the colour of their skin.

This is such an important time and as uncomfortable as it is for us white people, we have caused a lot of this. S, until we fully believe that Black Lives Matter then we will never be able to truly accept that All Lives Matter.

The side of the racists?!
Again this lunacy is why they should stand up against this sort of extremism.
Should wear a Kick Racism Out Of Football t-shirt, and refuse to take a kneel. Stick the fingers up at the "do what I say or you're a racist" biggots.

Premier League exec - "Why didn't you kneel? You aren't in the KKK are you? Doesn't really fit the Brand."

Player - "I just feel the BLM official political ideals are wrong. I support equality, but I am more comfortable supporting "Kick it Out" than pandering to exremists."

Exec - "But we are putting on SSN on the hour every hour".

Gazillionaire empty headed morons kneeling and raising black panther fists...now waiting for the PR snakes to inform them of the next high-profile cause they must support.....

Completely shallow and meaningless isn't it? That's what sticks in my craw. Incomparable with the bravery and principled stance of Colin Kaapernick. Where were they all when he had his career severed at the knees? Wasn't high profile enough in our media for them to give a shiny shite.......

because it ran out of steam and the movement had little momentum. Now, the movement is going across the world and most people are getting behind it to ensure that the momentum doesn't disappear, allowing governments off the hook, and forcing them and our societies to hold a mirror up to ourselves. That so many people are angry about that - the mirror to ourselves - shows where BLM are coming from.

we should get behind BLM and accept that we need to change ourselves and then our societies first. Only then will we see real change.

Thanks for telling me what I should be doing. Been wondering what to do today, think ill now make a sign and go shout at some policemen. Fkin pigs!

It was so much more powerful when Kaepernick did it in the NFL. That took some bollocks for him to do that against the national anthem on his own and fair f***ing play to him for that.
Ironically this post would have taken more bollocks had you posted in support for Kaepernick at the time. Fair play if you did like.

Aye

didn't tell you what you should be doing. I'd have considered you wise enough to know for yourself.

There's your first mistake! Fair enough, I apologise for my unwarranted and unnecessary sarcasm.

I disagree. Please refer to General Zods posts. I quite like feeling I have the option to call the police if I ever get home invaded by a squad of tooled up addicts.

The only thing that bothers me is it feels like a corporation pandering to the public, making sure that they can't be accused of anything, the NFL will be the same next season.

The Premier League are about to allow a club to be sold to the Saudi government essentially, look at their human rights record. They make the USA look like Sweden. The Premier League is not interested in social justice, they just don't wanna ruin the chance to get your money.

Me too. Most are seeing it for what it is, which is to recognise the disadvantages faced by blacks. That's it.

Unless of course you think all those out protesting want rid of the police? LOL.

Like shite, I think you'll find that was when Defoe scored that screamer against the smelly mags , this doesn't come f***ing close

Yeah, I'm sure that goal will be talked about on the news and in history lessons for decades to come.
