if travel abroad is allowed anytime soon

What worries me a bit are the thermal cameras they want to scan folk with. What if its just a really hot day & get a bit sweaty? Would you then not be allowed to board plane, and lose entire cost of holiday cos insurance won't pay claiming its covid related?
🤣

I’ve had June hol cancelled. Majorca mid August if they let us go and there’s no quarantine when I get back then we’ll be flying.

I wonder if countries such as Spain will start blacklisting arrivals from any Covid-19 hotspots as and when second waves hit.

Doubt it. They believe a second wave won't hit until Autumn/Winter time.

Beaches are back open in most places around the country. Police are controlling how many people access the beaches and some towns have them closed at weekends till mid June.

The whole social distancing rules here don't make any sense at all. The current rules say that you are allowed to meet up in groups of maximum 15 people both outdoors and at home. However, there needs to be 2 metres distance between each person. How on earth are you going to be able to meet up in groups of 15 people and stay 2 metres distance away from each other? You'd either need to shout or use walkie talkies to communicate.

Nobody is taking any notice of the the 2 metres distance rule when they're having drinks on the outdoor seating areas bars have.

Been to the beach this afternoon and whilst it was quite full, there were 2 metre gaps between groups of people but not 2 metre gaps between people within the same group.

Coppers were driving along the promenade taking photos and telling people on the megaphone to keep 2 metres apart.
I’ve got a couple weeks off in July. Leave slots are fully booked so no scope for the 14 days quarantine when I get back 😭

When was that announced? It was still just ROI, IOM and Channel Islands at lunchtime.

Spanish president announced it earlier this week that foreign tourists will be allowed to enter the country from July 1st

Thanks mate, but it would be south of France and its a drive there and obviously back.

South East or South West France?

Surely it's only us ignorant Brits who are blatantly ignoring government instructions - everyone else worldwide is behaving in an exemplary fashion - I read it on here.

We are the pariahs of the world and no-one wants anything to do with us - again, I read it on here.

Nah, Spaniards are much more disobedient than British people. However, the current behaviour and attitude towards the rules the government currently have in place is basically a fuck you for keeping us under the strictest lockdown in the world for 7 weeks.

Now that people are allowed out whenever they want for however long they want, they're basically giving the middle finger to the government.

@ivanthereasonable was saying he wouldn’t want to quarantine when he got back home. Unless I’ve got completely confused and he lives in Spain now.

would you feel happy going on holiday we lost out on Euro Disney this week and have just changed our July holiday to next year....im Hoping October half term we might be able to book something.....

personally id go away tomorrow if i could but i nah the Mrs wouldn't. Croatia has now opened its borders for holidaymakers

They've not opened them for residents of the uk though

I'd easily happily travel abroad

I’m still booked on Baltic cruise for mid-August. I think it might be cancelled.

TUI have extended their cruise holiday cancellations to end of July, so I am keeping an eye on what happens next.

Enjoy the 14 days quarantine upon your return.
Th

The fact that returnees have to spend 14 days quarantined upon return should put paid to all but the most determined to go.

That's if they manage to get through their holiday without getting quarantined there, as what happened in Tenerife in late Feb.

Fuck going away this year.

It just is not worth the hassle, or subsequent health risk. At any price.
What if already booked and paid like most are ? Totally in the hands of govt policy , if they allow the flights to go ahead then you have choice go or lose all the money and stay at home for your hols .
For me anyway , the govt should be blocking all summer hol flights , very few will self quarantine for 2 weeks anyway

We normally go to Italy to see the missus mum every year ...she lives on the french border so we usually fly to Niece. Really missed it this year....we are hoping we might get out later in the year though.

South east-ish. Not far from Carpentras, is where we settle, normally. We would tour around working our way down South then settle in a camp site or Gite.
This year, we'd probably just get down South asap for a couple of weeks.

No mate. Costa del Heworth. And i do realise its not on the coast.

I’m happy to travel. If I have to quarantine when I get home, so be it. My only concern is arriving somewhere and being told to quarantine. I’d never travel in those circumstances

aye, i asked his advice on some bits, probably have a beer with him when i get over there.

If countries are opening up their borders to tourists, I can't imagine you'd need to quarantine on return to your country of residence as the government of the country you are visiting is pretty much guaranteeing your safety.
