Race across the world

Someone asked about SA and then said they wanted to go but mentioned instead they'd gone to Asia. I compared the two and implied they hadn't missed out. I also then highlighted others had been to more places.

And, as I said, anyone can go to these places.

Again, a very poor effort.

You'll be starting a thread to boast about your drinking exploits next

You only ever post on the thread to tell folk where you've been, again congratulations
This thread is about travelling and pretty much the posters on this thread are either enjoying watching about travelling or like travelling themselves. For mouse to say he likes or prefers some places more than others is fine. It's not like any of us will be overly impressed because a lot of us have shared experiences and don't see it as boasting.

Chill out, it's a bit light heated ribbing

Indeed. But Robert is seething. At all times. Its hilarious

Heated. Tells its own story. Calm down man.

So, back to the programme....

Anyone applying for the next series?! My other half (no) is currently filling in the application!!

Could be a while before filming with the current situation though...
I half wouldn't mind, but work and covid aside, I think I would prefer to go more slowly and enjoy the experience and stop longer at places.

Trying to guess routes.
A circle round Canada and USA?
Trans Africa?
Trans Siberia?
India to Norway?

Rob and twisty arse have surely won. Would like to see Lizzy and Dom win, mainly because she seems like a canny lass.

Lizzy and Dom are still in it. They've made up a lot of time in the last two legs. If it weren't for Dom's seizure, they'd probably be leading TBH.

Africa would be good but there are inherent risks, no go areas etc. to deal with. India to Norway is intriguing, not so sure about the Canada/US thing .

Tbf, overall I think Asia is better (from places I've been). Like Rio is my fave SA city I've been to, but still think Bangkok is better. Chile is my fave SA county, but I enjoyed Burma and Vietnam more.

But others on here will definitely have seen plenty more of South America than me.
Can I just ask what you enjoyed about Burma? I lived there and it's a place I took absolutely no pleasure from. Dirty, dull, really shit food, little to see in the way of historical interest outside of Bagan, some nice people, others criminally dishonest. I wouldn't wish the place on my worst enemy.

The people were class from our experience, Yangon aside it seemed fairly untouched, Bagan temple site blew me away and Ngapali beach was beautiful, as was sunset at u bein Bridge. We also found a pub in Mandalay that was basically a garage  I would concede the food to be a bit of a let down mind, although some of the street food in Yangon was interesting.

I lived in Mandalay. Never managed to get to Ngapali due to lack of flight availability on my days off, was easier to fly to Bangkok than there. You might have seen my posts on here about the place, but my time there was incredibly miserable. Mandalay has to be the most inconsiderate and noisy city I've ever been to - and I ended up having to live there. 😩 Don't get me started on my landlord, the robbing bastard...

I can't believe they cite U Bein as a landmark. A rickety death trap of a bridge. Pretty much all the bars in Mandalay are like garages. Most are just courtyards with folding gates at the front.

I'm starting to realise what I like, you don't  Was class at the bridge, sunset was stunning and the little bar on the island that emerges when the water shifts is a great spot for cheap as chips beer whilst watching on.

 They say familiarity breeds contempt and I really grew to hate the place. I haven't got a good word to say about it.

Tbf marra, you spent much longer there so can see where you're coming from. The missis really liked it too, but also wouldn't go back, feeling she did what there was to do and there's more things to enjoy elsewhere.

I heard and still hear people talking in glowing terms about Burma. I don't know what they saw that I missed, but staying there for more than a week or two might have more of a negative impact on visitors, maybe? When it comes to noise, they don't care a jot about other people. I have videos from my apartment where people in other rooms would run pneumatic drills morning till night. Hugely inconsiderate culture for me, but when you're there as a tourist maybe things are a bit different?
