Has Chi Onwurah had anything to say about the takeover, I doubt she'd be in favour of it given her comments following the murder of Khashoggi.

"Germany has halted arms sales to Saudi Arabia. The Secretary of State prefers to wait. Is he suggesting that there is some way in which Mr Khashoggi could have met his death in the embassy that would be acceptable to him, and will he accept that whatever the result of the investigation, responsibility for the murder must lie with the autocratic ruler of what has now been shown to be a murderous state?"

Yeah, I don't blame the fans as such as we all want to be the best and it's not for your average Joe to set an example it's the authorities that should be stopping this but we all know they will not say no to the money

Looks more like Priti Patel job to me!
Spoiled for choice mate. Pick the one you like best.

A lot of their fanbase and their local MP took a stance that Ashley should go partly because of his buisness practices. Took moral high ground against him and now this is happening appear to have egg on their faces. Not so much sour grapes from us more pointing out yet another clear and obvious error in their mind set.

Edit... they do have form for rewriting history so should be fun to watch this with a regime with such a horrendous record.
This. Just highlights the hypocrisy of football fans. Even when Newcastle were doing well the fans shut up about Ashley. All they care about is results. We'd probably be exactly the same, as a group of fans. But we haven't been in a similar position, so let the wind-ups commence.

Is it something you have raised prior to this often? Was the ownership of Sheffield United something you have raised before? If so fair enough - crack on.

Yep. As well as PSG and City.

and even if I hadn’t it’s completely irrelevant

Pretty much this. Since then, every time they have been on the precipice of fans walking away in significant numbers something has happened to get them back on side.

After a few mediocre years under Dalglish and Gullit, Robson came in and pushed them back up the league playing some good stuff.

After their first PL relegation they pissed the league from the start.

Pardew wasn’t popular, but he delivered a fifth place and more European football.

After McClaren, they brought in Benitez, who stayed post relegation. Imagine the scenario had they gone down to the C’ship with McClaren still in charge. Still getting 52k?! Not a f***ing chance.

Their crowds were down a fair bit this year so they just gave free ST’s away (about 10k). My brother took two for him and my nephew, but couldn’t afford to renew them, so it would’ve been interesting to see what the crowds would have been next year if others did likewise.

Going back to that Mag article. Newcastle have a huge local catchment area; Berwick to Teesside essentially, and across to Cumbria, although they share much of area south of Tyne with us, with Boro and, to a lesser extent, Hartlepool, coming into play on Teesside. Their nationwide support is predominantly exiles, some Keeganites and others who just fancied supporting them to be different. It’s small beer. As is their global support. Their global support is much closer to our’s than that of the elite. To get into the Man Utd ballpark they would have to win things (domestic and European) consistently for a generation. It’s not impossible, but it’s miles off.
Agree with the majority of what you have said. Man city have had almost 12 years of extreme investment and still are nowhere near as big as man United. I heard the arabs want the biggest and best but settled for a club that is around the 7th biggest in the country.

I doubt we will get anything out of 4 of those, Liverpool, Spurs, City and Sheff Utd.

So in reality it's 5 points from 5 fixtures against clubs all battling relegation. It could easily go horribly wrong.

Anyone who thinks we are completely safe is deluded.

If we can't pick up 2/3 points which should see us safe from 9 games we absolutely deserve to get relegated.

All the money in the world won't be able to buy the luck you have had so far this season. You shouldn't need it mind with the calibre of players you should be targeting.
Definitely, they wont be able to spend more than £100m a season without qualifying for a European competition. I dont agree with the location because if you throw big wages at players they will move.
Where do you get the 100m per season rule?

It's a weird one as I genuinely don't think the people involved in this deal should be allowed to pass a fit and proper test but if it was us getting bought would I be up in arms about it? Don't think I would and don't blame the fans.

What I do find funny though is the fact that they used the workers rights angle to justify their ridiculous protests and actions against Mike Ashley and even had an MP bring it up in the Houses of Parliament for them to now seemingly turn a blind eye to the atrocities the Saudis have brought onto millions.
I’d be genuinely interested in their answer to this! I know all the resident mags will be reading this so whats your take on the above

May I ask who you voted for in the past 2 maybe even 3 general elections?

My guess is that it is a party that sells guns to terrorists - did you stop and think then?

It is an interesting debate though, and not because of Newcastle's involvement. As football fans, how much are we willing to over look in the hope of seeing our clubs do well? If the involvement was in a different area to sport would our response be different?

I will be envious if they can sidestep financial fair play and buy endless big stars but in reality it won’t happen. What will happen is seat prices will rise in relation to success. They’ve been moaning about something for years - they’ll moan about this too.

I voted Labour.

don’t recall Jeremy Corbyn selling arms to anyone

The Labour party as well as the conservatives all armed the middle East during their terms in office. How were you not appalled or informed then?

Also your party killed plenty of civilians during an unjust war...
