Looks like he has hung on till Netflix was aired in the hope that this would happen. I thought he was a man of his word. He strikes me as someone who just wants to be liked, at whatever cost, even his statement after RAWA was a bit creepy. Like when someone on here announces they are going to leave the message board. Nice bloke, shit football club owner

We are nothing like the mags like.

so essentially you are saying we are

disillusioned
False
Up our selves
Elitist
Narcissistic
Bell ends

Generally we have a far higher opinion of ourselves than reality. A large portion of the support simply assumed we'd piss League 1 and then went berserk when it didn't happen. The support turning on Donald and Methven was entirely predictable. We're still refusing to learn the lesson.

People have made their minds up about SD and interviews like this won’t alter opinions.

Trying to listen objectively I get the impression he’s still desperate to stay at the club and he’s working on avenues to facilitate this with more enthusiasm than finding prospective new buyers.

The only lesson we need to learn is that we need far more intelligence and competence in the club - and no amount of emotional handjobs delivered via podcast should obscure that. The fanbase needs to get much smarter so that we can recognise bluffers faster - and hold them to account much better - in the future.

I’d be happy enough for him to stay if he had the financial clout of FPP behind him.

If he can’t attract serious additional investment though he has to move on.

We’ve turned on them because they are a pair of chancers whose only ever aim was to flip the club for a quick profit .
In the meantime they mugged as all off with lies .

Exactly. That's wrong, then being diplomatic is wrong. It's like people have made their minds up and that's it, nothing can be right now.

Reeks of 'southern bastards coming up here and telling us how to run our club, how dare they'

The next lot will be treated exactly the same. The support is toxic now, there's no other word for it. We might pat ourselves on the back at Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden but for most of the season we're the mags with less patience.

As a now southern fan, I cant say I have ever continued on to a anti southern agenda.

Stuart and co are in a position of their own making. Had he not been extremely economical with the truth he would always have that to fall back on, but he doesnt.

I'm not sure that was Donald's only aim, I think he has come into this naive in the extreme for a good time. If you are to take his comments on stid at face value (which you cant), his vision is almost romantic in the sense of having a club similar to that of the 80s. It's just what we needed is the opposite of that.
we didn't ask for 100 points this season

Just one of the many many decisions that have worked against us that could have been avoided with only a little foresight, they have been so amateur at times it's not funny.

It's a nightmare, this isn't what was agreed a couple of months back and again is completely at odds with what his mate said recently.

I think it’s so unfortunate how all of this has played out with the owners.

I do think some fans have been just as guilty as the owners in exasperating the situation mind and blowing it up bigger than it is.

I’d say yes the owners have made some mistakes, but a lot of them were grounded in logical decisions.

Parachute payments... Not sure it matters if it was used to “purchase” the club as effectively by doing so it wrote off the debt through Ellis Short.

Biggest budget... we did have and SD did highlight the wage challenges not sure why some fans expected a war chest

Maja... clearly was going I don’t know how you can believe the daily mails agents version (clearly bullshit based on the body language of Maja throughout STID season 2 and equally the body language of SD)

Will Grigg... not one Sunderland fan didn’t want that to go through, we were expecting guaranteed goals, so was Donald cost wouldn’t of mattered if we got that. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Appointing PP... we don’t know whoelse applied and whether he was the best out of a bad bunch. People on here were clambering for Prem Managers as is their delusion.

In it for the money... it’s a business, you’re deluded if you don’t think it should be run like one when every other club is and they are all competing at a level with high relative costs due to the disproportionate TV money at the top end.

My biggest gripe at the moment though is these fans praying for the Americans to come “save us”.... why do you think they will be any better? We saw the miss management that came with our previous owner despite his financial clout. At least SD and CM have worn their hearts on their sleeves and tried to run the club responsibly and stop our fall any further both financially and in terms of league 2!!

I honestly don’t think many of our “fans” will be happy until we have an owner who is an ex miner, socialist valuing, billionaire, born a Sunderland fan who studied at Sunderland university and has never left the city and only wears a Sunderland shirt and jeans... seriously no wonder CM said people in the NE don’t understand business.

Also the call for them to leave just before the transfer window opened.... well that was just bloody stupid and rather self indulgent by the fan groups. Totally killed any chance of investment that window and is now likely the reason behind the delay to wage negotiations for players.

Definitely. Not the fault of the fans when we had a previous owner who barely said anything in a decade that you take to a regime which is open and seemingly honest. With hindsight it was a mistake. Shouldn’t matter if owners want to drink with supporters, just work in a professional manner to improve the club and get us out of the mess we’re in.

He's also cut his nose off to spite his face by refusing to give any updates on the club (Something he stated was imperative so the fans know the direction of the club as 'its ours), He's stopped going to matches and all engagement that was built, has been stopped.

Now he wants all to be forgiven and to be given another chance?

This when he was getting threats from the fans, and the podcasts told him to leave the club for appointing Parkinson?
The threats are reprehensible and anyone making them should be ashamed. He was only challenged to leave when he wouldn't engage and then tried to play one podcast off against the other. At the time, nothing was going right on or off the pitch and Parkinson was looking an absolute disaster - that has changed a little.
I still have time for him and believe his motives are good but his 'new way of doing things' didn't last long.

That bit is clear. The issue is whether he’s sufficiently competent for us to want him to stick around. All evidence thus far would say he isn’t.
