I've offered that but he starts work at 6am and can't get there from here at that time of the morning. His flat is 5 mins walk from work.

Out for early morning walk, walking past morrisons at 7.15 noticed it was open, we went in as we have been away for 3 weeks, and need some fresh veg, we both had a basket and got what we need didn't buy anything just because it was there, pleased to see they were enforcing the 2 item limit, talking to a lass in the que to get served and we both felt that if you just did your normal shop, there would be enough for everyone and the shops would have time to restock, beer seems to be the latest panic buy.

Same here really , I think what we’re seeing is people who usually only have a day or so worth of food who might eat at work etc suddenly doing a big shop. Things like toilet roll , baby milk and nappies people will inevitably stock up on as they’re essentials. Huge swathes of society advised to social distance for 12 weeks too adds to the desire to stock up
I reckon there's a lot of people these days who don't do the weekly shop. There's a hell of a lot of folk who live on takeaways and MacDonald's. I've just been down the shop at the bottom of the street with the bairn and they have pretty much everything apart from netty roll.

I would get him to play his free self isolating card.

Our limited food stock is diminishing rapidly. For the last 10 days or so we have isolated ourselves away as we are both in the vunrable class (Im 65 with COPD & Asthma & our lass (no) is a Insulin dependant Diabetic). But we need to venture out and re-stock. We are going to take advantage of Sainsburies policy of 8-9 pm opening for the elderly and vulnerable. Thankfully, Go North East now allow us to use our bus passes before 9.30 so we are will see how it goes this coming Monday.
Good luck, hope you get sorted.

Went to my local McColls earlier everything there as usual as it has been all during this pandemic, you don't have to shop at the big supermarkets to get what you need.

Durham Arnison Centre this morning was exactly the same. Huge queues outside M&S and like Christmas Eve morning at Sainsbury’s.

Blokes jostling for slabs of lager!

Utter madness.

At this rate if the government really want to clamp down on social gatherings the supermarkets should be next. Not sure how they’d do it but it’s farcical closing cafes and then having hundreds of people in close proximity jostling with each other for the last few cans of beer / loaf of bread.

Says a lot about their intelligence that grown men may not be able to go without a beer for a few days like, so depressing this country just now.

Went to lidl to do my weekly shop as i always do every Saturday morning about 8:15. People were leaping out of their cars and actually sprinting into the shop like they were on f***ing supermarket sweep or something
:lol::lol: f***ing hell
Shelves bare but Chinese snacks all still there ffs :lol:
Went in Sainsburys yesterday freezers stripped bare apart from a mountain of f***ing parsnips

I think people need to think about the difference between ‘panic buying’ as the media love to call it and people ‘stocking up’ on essentials in case of any potential lock down?

Totally agree there are some selfish twats who are clearly hoarding more than they need, but there are plenty of people just getting prepared too and buying sensibly? We live in a rural location with a number of elderly neighbours, and this situation has brought out a great spirit in people in our area offering to get extra shopping for neighbours - previously strangers - who can’t get to the shops themselves.

So don’t always be too quick to judge everyone ?
