I‘ve quoted what he said. Fans listened to that. He only changed the wording after CM stepped in. He was asked by Jeff Brown what the figures were ‘as so many had been bandied about’ and he said he’d given ES £40m, is that what he said?

My previous post covered this.

Surely you see why people don't believe him though? Within 3 minutes of his first interview he's lied and CM has had to step in and tell the truth.

More a slip of the tongue in his excitement than a lie I'd say. The deal was £40m, just like the deal for my house was £75k. If I said I'd bought my house for £75k I wouldn't be lying, even though I hadn't handed over anywhere near that up front.

And Methven didn't step in as you're suggesting. He clarified afterwards that they'd be paying in installments. The actual quote from SD is "We've given Ellis... er... £40m, so that's the deal price..."

Those are his words. They haven't given Ellis £40m though. Hence CM to the rescue, again.

They haven't yet given Ellis £40m. They will have paid him half of it by now though, with the rest coming presumably after the sale of the club seeing as they aren't going to be here in 2 years' time when they had arranged to have paid him by.

It really is no different to the mortgage situation I described above. The deal was £40m. That's how much Ellis will be getting from the current owners at the end of the day. It doesn't matter whether it all came in one go or over a period of time, the deal was still £40m. That's how much SD/CM/JS agreed to pay for the club. Who gives a toss how many payments that was due to be paid in?

You’re something else you mind. All the posts and threads you jump on to say SD was misquoted/fake news etc. Yet I give you one example and it was a ‘slip of the tongue’.

You wouldnt buy a house off someone and use the current occupants future revenue income to purchase the house would you? You comparison is ridiculous. If you cant accept that donald has told numerous half truths then theres no point debating him tbh.

I bought a house; circumstances changed - lost job, flat market etc.
I didn't sell but I have been able to rent the house out for a while.
The rental income makes a big contribution to my mortgage, so I still have an asset that would have been lost had I not found a way to make the payments.
It's still my house, and the mortgage is well on its way to being paid off now.
I have paid for running repairs etc as needed, so I don't think the house is suffering under my ownership.

That's great mate. Well done. No relevance to how donald bought the club.

Neither have the owners.

The deal was £40m. SD said "We've given Ellis £40m, that was the deal" when the truth is they were paying £40m in 4 installments.

It's highly pedantic to use that as a stick to beat him with for a year and a half.

Anyone clinging to that as the reason they want rid of SD should take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror.

So if we're saying he bought the club for 40 million are you saying he didnt use future parachute payments owed to the club to fund the purchase?

He's a very sad WUM with no life, don't waste your time with him mate. He only posts on this board to antagonise people. He doesn't go to games or invest anything into the club but is quite happy to criticise those who do.

£15 million was the amount Ellis Short received for the shares.

...up front.

Then £5m after a year, £10m after 2 years, and £10m after 3 years.

Not as far as I know. See above.

The parachute payments paid the £25m SAFC debt to SBC as far as I'm aware.
