Cutting the Grass

Was out back this morning and I think I'm going to have to cut the grass in a week or two.

I've never cut it before march before... cant believe how green it is and how much its growing.. same with all the daffs popping up early too
@Dave Herbal will be along presently to discuss if public displays of affection between different grasses, LGBTQ or straight, or just a bit bendy, is acceptable.

I'm going to get my mower out before my grass gets frisky. :D

Dont do it epping. Snow may and probably will come and fresh cut stems will let frost and rot in. Let it grow and continue to stay healthy

I am going to have to get some moss killer this year...
Can't use owt like that in mine like. Same wi weeds n that - them little fuckers piss is right off anarl.

I use this stuff. It's an organic fertiliser with seed and it works really well.

It doesn't contain weedkiller.

The idea is that it strengthens the grass to better compete with moss and weeds.

I spike the lawns regularly and apply every 4 to 6 weeks during growing season.

The result is certainly not Chelsea Flower Show standards but presentably tidy.

yeah I will have to scarify as well..its built up over a couple of years but its been less cold and more damp this year so its spreading

kill it back then rake it out is the only way really, you never really get rid but if I can thin it out the grass will come back in the summer

Will give it a whirl, ta.

Our shed is a breeding ground for enormous mutant sized ones. Like f***ing facehuggers scurrying around the place. It's absolutely the most nerve shredding thing I have to do on a semi regular basis.

I’ve got one monster that lives in the shed that seems to keep the others in line, we’ve got an understanding, I don’t fuck on with his webs and he lets me get the mower in peace.

Haven't used fertilizer or weedkiller on the lawn in years, so I am getting a lot more wild flowers into the lawn. I don't bother getting rid of dandelions either now, as they are one of the first plants to flower in early spring so they are good for bees.

I've got three smallish lawns and they were in a pretty bad state with brown patches, moss, weeds the lot.

I was recommended this stuff and didn't try it until quite late in the spring but it absolutely transformed them.

I'm very cynical about advertising claims but this stuff did exactly what it said on the box.

I'm certainly no expert but I think spiking the lawn also helped a lot.

I bought some spiked overshoes at B&Q for less than a tenner.

They work very well with the added bonus for the rest of the family as they gather together, peer out of the window and take the piss while I'm doing my silly walk around the garden.
