BBC Will Grigg: Sunderland striker rejects Salford City move

He’s based in the north west so it’s surprised me. Maybe it’s a money thing.
or could he be another that’s “ fallen out of love with the game “ but still wants the wages. There’s a few things it could be.

Surely the money wouldn't change, just that £5k per week of it would be paid by Salford. There's still a naive part of me that hopes he's turned them down because he's trying to play for us and will come good.

This. Obviously thinks he can find a club at a better level or change his fortunes here. He’s not turned it down for money cos whatever Salford wouldn’t pay he’d still get from us

A gamble that didn't pay off for us.
If he'd scored the goals to win us promotion, things might have been different.
He just looks disinterested and, frankly, out of his depth (as he's done nothing to show otherwise).
He's just hanging in there on the contract he's signed (fair play to him on that, more fool SAFC. again).
Now we should just try and cut our losses the best way we can, and get rid to anyone who will take him (and his contract)

Nobody would be happier than me, but his demeanour when he’s been on the pitch suggests to me he isn’t happy or settled here and I don’t think it’s doing him or us any good. His family are still in the north west, I don’t know if he’s in digs here but it’s a hell of a daily commute and can’t be helping.

His family moved up here couple months ago.

Same here just use him, we've paid enough.

No need to chase after another forward either.

He cant get any worse and our other centre forwards rarely score so whats the difference.
Cant believe people want to waste a shirt on him.You see speed, dribbling, heading ability, hold up play, awareness of team mates, vision ,workrate,physicality,etc.........Slight prob with him is he hasnt got any of these ,ive seen more life in a chapel of rest

Him staying is bleeding us and stopping us bringing anyone in

The classic example of signing a player on reputation. I honestly think the hype around his song made him out to be a better player than he is.

His record in League One isn't all that great. He had 2 good seasons at Wigan but that was it. I get the feeling he feels he should be playing in the Championship. I know he got in a sulk because he wasn't first choice striker for Northern Ireland.

A superstar in his own mind.

He is Donald’s busted flush, a symbol of his failings and poor recruitment. It’s not even the fact that he’s been poor, he hasn’t looked interested from day one.

She might kick his f***ing arse so he might try now? I doubt she would want him to lose his wages when his contract is up and have no takers and a family to provide for. Maybe why he doesn't want to move..!!??...

Heres hoping.
Hopefully she gets stuck into him to get his arse in gear, he’s capable of better. I can’t f***ing stand quitters.

Grigg gets loads of stick, some justified some utter tosh. Always claims of him being lazy yet I've seen him with my own eyes closing players down, the problem is if the midfield is 20-30 yards behind you what is the point in closing the back four down?

Has he missed some good chances, yes. Were we creating lots of chances for him and playing to his strengths? No. Don't blame him for not wanting to drop to League 2, to suggest he is anything like Rodwell is daft.

Fuck it.

I'm taking his refusal and Parkys words about him wanting to prove himself as a sign of an upturn in events. I even think the way we set up now would Benefit Grigg more and he's going to start firing them in over the next few months.

One can only hope.
