This just happened to me so I rang up to inform them about it. Bloke on the phone seemed genuinely shocked and praised my honesty. I was a bit surprised by his shocked reaction; surely anyone would come forward about something like this, right?

yeah I would. I know people who have been asked later to pay it back. they knew they were overpaid but spent it anyway, now they have to find that money to give it back.

I'd say nothing and claim I didn't notice if they every come back to me.

Lad at work got paid £10,000 extra one month. He called HR about 3 times to say that he'd been paid too much
and they were always too busy to talk to him. After 4 weeks, he went up there to sort it out and the lass said
"Could we look into it later we're busy looking for a missing ten grand at the moment".

I was once overpaid travel expenses for an overseas job interview (by a couple of hundred quid). Obviously I told them, and paid them back, as a good way to show them what an honest and trustworthy character I am. Bastards didn't give me the job though .

My old company got took over, they fucked up payroll afterwards and paid everyone twice. Demanded it back obviously, most people did, one lad claimed he'd stuck it all on a horse so he offered to pay back £50 a month

Turns out I'm on supplier payment terms of 60 days
