McGeady

Once he was frozen out we were never going to get a fee for him. He'll be waiting out on getting the best deal he can.

He did take a pay cut in the summer in exchange for a longer deal, so he might even be waiting out for a longer contract rather than the £££s.

He's really not been missed has he.

I think we suspected he wouldn’t be after Tranmere game. Him coming back fit and Gooch going off injured nipped PPs early impact in the bud. Talented quality player but not a team man. Luxury player who will struggle at any level now as the game is so intense ... fast and physical.
PP tried to accommodate him and failed... pleased he had the courage to make the difficult decision

I'm struggling with this one too. :)

If he's been bullying younger players then couldn't he be sacked for gross misconduct or are we hanging onto his contract in hope of getting a fee.

Recipe for a long drawn out lawsuit. And we ain't very good at them.

It may not be that clear. What did the bullying involve? Did he actually assault anyone? Or threaten to do so? In front of witnesses? Do those involved want to pursue things?

He’s a skilful player and can win you a game with a moment of class but he doesn’t track back at speed, leaves his fullback exposed and slows the play down when he gets the ball in advanced areas. He will still do a job for some team but even without his misdemeanours he doesn’t really fit the style of play we have at the moment.

Well said and all good points.

The one thing I would add though is it would be nice to draw a line under this and move on. I would be tempted to say to him not to even train with the U23s given the bullying label now applied to him. That said, he will have more worth in the transfer market if he is fit to play.

This. I hope he's working his socks off in training with a view to getting back into the team if no move materialises this month. I'd love to think we're building a momentum that has the other teams shitting themselves about playing us again. Most teams in this league have seen what he's capable of so you can imagine their hearts sinking if we bring him on in the second half of a close game. Unfortunately I can't help thinking he'll continue to play Billy Big Bollox and just turn up and collect his wages with no effort to build bridges.
Makes me wonder really, hes had loads of clubs and never really put his roots down; a wanderer, a football gypsy. You've got to wonder if his temperament has always been suspect

He was...however. I wish I had the data/time/ability to analyse how often he took on a thirty yard raker and ignored an easy pass. At the end of the day, whilst we all love a screamer they very rarely go in. We’d always be better off trying to create better chances inside the 18 yd box.
XG forever ✊

Loads of clubs? No different to most players in the world these days - had seven seasons of actually playing at Celtic, three to four in Moscow and then went to Everton where he was shit, so he was loaned out, twice and then moved here where he's into his third season. That's hardly loads of clubs and especially so in the modern age. I'm not sure if his temperament is suspect or not but he clearly is an individual who does things his way and plenty of those are celebrated in the world of football.
We are getting constant balls into the box now not squaring it inside to the opposition and getting caught on the break

Aiming that squarely at McGeady is missing the mark though. It ignores that under Parkinson, although woefully out of form as he has been since injury last March/April, he was playing a bit more for the team and was cutting inside and prompting the likes of Hume to go down the left and put balls in. also the front wide players now are still very fluid and they tend to cut inside themselves, offering the wingbacks the opportunity to give the width.

His faults recently were not being able to press like a Gooch as he's 33 and it's not his game. What's happening now is we have a structured team, with a focal point and players understanding roles and we attack as a team too. Under Ross there there was no team responsibility shown and players took the easy option or done what they were instructed and looked to play through McGeady far too often.

When you think about it, if he's been bullying younger players, then the last thing the club should be doing is getting him to train with them!!

Like who?

09 allegedly.

There was also a story going around (no idea if true) that when he arrived for training after the McPhoto incident, his teammates had put a load of McDonalds wrappers/bags/whatever in/around his locker, and when he saw it he went apeshit, and that's when he was sent home by PP and the next day he was out on his ear.

Like I said, dunno how true any of that is.

I don't know about the lad being a bully. When it comes to scrapping it doesn't look like he could beat an egg. That said he has caused problem's for managers at many clubs he has been at so the quicker we get shot the better. All this he's the best player at the club is bollocks. Maybe technically on the ball he's the best but his all round game and attitude is shit.

If he really has been bullying, then surely there is a disciplinary process that can be followed to dismiss him.

Alternatively, have him train twice a day and then clean the U23's boots.
