Pubs banning mobiles

Well there was none of that when I went to school dinners, we just stood in line and got served, like I said it was all pre paid at the start of the week. so no need for anything other than your dinner money on the Monday morning.
If you're absent for a week, the money remains on the card. It only needs topping up when necessary. It's, again, far more convenient.
Cocaine.

Nobody has addressed the Kubix issue yet. For those that weren’t there, the WiFi went into limp mode so it took ages for a card to be approved. The result was queues of nearly an hour, as no cash was taken. Idiotic plan, given it’s in the middle of a field.

It is. More transactions are made by card than by cash these days. Given that you do your internet banking whilst driving, I thought you’d be aware of that.

I keep a few £20 notes at home because my barber is cash only, and the odd coins in a jar I'll use for getting stuff from the corner shop if I'm spending under a fiver.

I haven't carried cash on my person for years. Totally unnecessary.

If you were absent for a week back then you didn't pay, I can't see any benefit at all, other than the obvious one you missed, a that being it might stop some spending their dinner money on tabs.

A less shit festival might well have better infrastructure for their payments.

Say you miss three days starting Wednesday? The money from those lost days remains on the card. Did the school keep records of payments like that to avoid loss of money when you were a young one? Because again, the card method makes that easier to keep track of. You're analysing this from a very antiquated viewpoint.

Greater than the need for cash in an emergency, I think.

I do like the idea of having a bag full of everything you’d need to make a quick getaway like.

As soon as I’ve got the money I’m prepping for next pandemic. It’s coming!

Cash all day for me like - never even used the self service checkouts in the supermarket close to ours cos they only take card.

So not unnecessary at all then.

Must be a generational thing. In 20 years, folk who aren’t even born yet will be asking me why I don’t have a payment chip installed in my eyeball.

True, most festivals will take cash as well.

Drugs
Fiddle work
Tipping delivery drivers
Lending money to people
Buying knock off gear
Gambling with your mates

I’d like to see how a cashless society works with those things.

Drugs - never have never will

Fiddle work - already got a job

Tipping - fair point

Lending money - bank transfer via app

Knock off gear - bitch, please. I buy the real shit

Gambling - we don’t bet cash
