Chinese, pakis and darkies (Indian takeaway) used regularly by ppl I know as the north east is well behind other parts of the country in our attitude towards racism. Was talking to a Canadian outside a bar about this not long back as he'd noticed it after 4 days here.
yes them canutes are pretty politicaly correct, they can't even call eskimoes, eskimoes anymore
I never said there was a rant, I simply hoped you rant at the Americans and Australians 😉

surely you mean yanks and aussies

First nation, got a friend who works at larga baffin it's a refuge/hotel for them when they fly into ottawa from nunavut and the artic circle, Eskimo or Inuit is frowned on, always first nation.

I always use the term chinkie's and paki's for our local takeway and shop, just a generation thing.
This ,

it’s not meant in any malice or racist way .Its an abbreviation /nick name for a corner shop or a takeaway.

how the word paki or chinkie has become a racist slur I don’t know tbh .Silly.
I doubt "A Chinese" is mean't in a nastie way, the way "Paki" is. But for me, i'd never use either of those. I have used "Going for an Indian" in the past. A bit more thought on my part means i now use "Going for a curry". If they'd asked me that same question, i'd just walk away from them. I'm not having that.
f***ing hell you think saying going for an Indians is racist ffs ?
Similar thing. I was asked for directions to the nearest pakis earlier. Apparently it's what "everyone" calls any convenience store these days. 1st time I'd ever heard the reference.
I’d say it’s not so common now but to anyone over the age of 40 in the working class areas of the north east it comes natural .

It's not, it's just stupid.

No i don't. I maybe have worded it wrongly. I think the use of Paki is though, mostly.

That doesn't make it not racism, it just makes it a sort of indirect racism. Its still racist though. The only thing left to do is show racism the red card. Racism is hurtful to people so unless you plan on hurting people there shouldn't be any need to use casual racism at all.

Xmas morning debate in our house, my old man hates dinners so I asked him what he was having to eat, said he’s going for a chinkys later (one is open where he lives apparently). My other half (no) took massive offence to this whereby I never even clicked on!
is it racist to say that?my view is, if it’s said in an innocent context then it’s not although I probably would be more aware

Well they could just say "Chinese" instead....easy but they chose to say a shortened offensive version

A lass I knew used to like 'Half and Half' (chips / rice) with Chinese Curry Sauce, and would routinely go in there slaughtered slurring her request for 'Half Chinese, half rice".

Hmm - the slang term in question appears to auto-edit to 'Chinese'...
