It was also great when people didn’t have a car or double glazing.

More room on the street but more risk of smashing windaz.
That reminds me of playing footy in the street as a kid, old fella says giz a pass young un, then put his foot straight through ball which would of took me m8 with it if he saved it straight through a large panel window, we all fucked off quick leaving the old bloke by himself to explain how he put the window out and would replace it 😂😂
We were all kernts when we were youngins in the 60s and 70s, but we also knew how to show respect.
Playing footy round the back of the shops n local beat bobby joining in for a couple of minutes, bridgewood looked huge compared 2 us, wadnt get that these days

We had what was called 'the pyramid' at the end of our street for kids to play on. Difficult to say how tall it really was, but you could pull yourself up by bars and once there see into people's gardens (including ours, and remember seeing my Mother in bra and pants having a hot flush and wafting herself with the back door! Amused the other kids, but I was mortified! 😃) We played on the bars and slid down it. Health and safety nightmare these days.

Putting my arm in the twin tub when it was on full spin .

setting fire to the grass down the river.

chalking on the pavement with white dog shite.

pulling my tight foreskin back and seeing how high I could piss.
Nipping the end of it whilst pissing and letting it off when full
Braying on people's doors and then legging it. Made more fun when you stumbled upon a lunatic who would chase you, so you'd then target them so much they'd be sitting in front of the box, shoes on, ready and waiting for the knock
Lighting newspaper with dog shit on it and watching them stamp it out.

Finding a bit of wood and putting bricks under one end to make a jump for our bikes. Seeing how many kids would lie down and you'd try to jump over them. Was always funny when there was one too many kids and the bike would land on them or the ramp would give way
Playing cricket in the street using a round bin lid as wickets and a tennis racket instead of a proper bat if we didn't have

Pretty much everything
Sledges from gas boards
Bogeys
Making camps
Making fires
Swings in trees
Hedge diving
Raiding allotments for strawberries/ pea pods
Air rifles
Grifters/ then bmxs
Footy
Trial bikes
Camping out...then early morning milk and juice raids
Getting pissed on cheap cider and lager and thinking no fucker knew when you staggered into the house and straight off to bed
Christ that’s just one minutes thinking, always something going on so never in the house much

You just used to play then, feel like everything for kids is a structured class or activity.

Was dead happy on endless bike rides, football games, amstrad cpc, arcades, beach, boating lake at tynemouth,

Scouring whitley bay indoor market, quayside market in days when every town wasnt identical

Grange Hill, me Mk 1 Raleigh Grifter, summer days up Hylton Woods, knocky nine doors (still play that on the way home from the club sometimes tbf), kick the can, 6 hour games of footy on Sundays with 20-a-side (break at 2pm for Sunday dinner).

Used to enjoy watching Shoot, The big match and Match of the day on a 14 inch black and white telly. George Taylor, Brian Moore and David Coleman. Used to save my bus fare by walking home from school except Friday when I was back in time for Crackerjack. By the time I started work I graduated to watching Sports night with Coleman and later Harry Carpenter.
