Donald on BBC Newcastle

I may be ignorant but how would Madrox go about earning the money to pay Donald as presumably it is just a company created as a vehicle to own SAFC ?

Typically, director's loans don't get repaid. They do become a factor in an owner's asking price when it comes to sell the business, unless the debt is ported across to the new owners. If Sunderland made profits, with the capital restructure that's just happened Madrox could receive dividends and use those to repay Donald, but that's a pretty big if.

I'm sure either just before or after Sartori came aboard SD said on a podcast that he was getting 20% for £3m.

This article alludes to it:

"listening to the latest podcast with Stewart Donald, it was £3m that Juan Sartori paid for 20%, not £2m."

This article states it but doesn't have the quote:

"So far, and encouragingly, Juan Sartori a prominent Uruguayan businessman with enterprises from Latin America to China, has paid £3m for a 20% stake"

There's no proof though. Sartori got existing shares in Madrox from Donald (or, more correctly, SJD Leisure, which holds Donald's Madrox shares) - he didn't subscribe for new ones. We may learn something more when SJD's next accounts come out, but the idea that that £3m automatically came to the club or Madrox itself is erroneous.

New the wonder we're shite then.

Fair play for Donald for fronting up. However as I’ve said all along it’s not a character thing for me - or even a financial one. It’s about poor strategy on the football side and has been from the start. I can’t think of one football decision that’s been made during his ownership that has really moved us forward. Doubling down on the personnel and thinking that have failed so completely over the past 18 months doesn’t strike me as a good move.

They're his mates and he's putting that before the good of the club. He's employed Hill wherever he could. It's embarrassing.

I didn’t think he’d be great, like. Even less so at the ridiculous price we paid.
The whole saga made my toes curl and for me "The Don" ceased to exist. That fee cost more than most L1 teams and was utterly, utterly pointless.

£500k for your injured reserve player?

Nope.

£750? £1m? £2m? £3m?

He didn't even fit into Ross's style of play, it was blatant who wanted him beyond all reason.

I was one of the people who were patient, positive and defensive towards the new ownership for a long time. I'm no bedwetter. When people started to give Donald criticism and feel unrest, I defended him for a while. When Jack Ross was starting to fuck up last year, I said it wasn't their fault.

But I'd like to conform given recent weeks and results, I've well and truly turned against Stewart and Charlie. They have ruined this football club in a way which may see us lumbered in longer league oblivion for a long time. A lot of people blame Ellis and his shocking mismanagement of the club does count, but his act of goodwill clearing the debt means I am not blaming him for this.

Some decisions have been made in the past 18 months which have been absolutely shocking. I am struggling to come to terms with what is happening to us.

The mags complain about a Cockney Mafia but we folks, have a Cockney Geezer instead, a dellboy. "This time next year we'll be millionaires"- that quote really does coin them.

Likely going to be slated for this but having seen fans reactions to donalds interview tonight I totally understand why hes stepped back.
He clearly explained that this “loan” is against madrox and they are the only ones at risk if it goes tits up. If it happens these billionaires would then own the club. We know juan could easily put the money in if he wanted or you get get a bank loan, so the question is why exactly have they got this money from the americans? Because its the start of a long term relationship with them
Reading peoples comments it’s utterly cringeworthy tbh. Everyone goes mad at the ‘fans fault’ crack but the reality is there’s some absolute f***ing melons supporting us like. People haven’t got a clue what they’re talking about but it’s hate first logic later.
You can’t reason people out of an opinion they didn’t reason themselves into.

Interesting, that’s what I suspected but thanks for confirming it. Good to clear it up Just in case anybody thought he could be taking money directly out of the club.

Best bit for me was people giving him stick for going into hiding and not explaining things (spending a few weeks at home with his family) yet when he came back tonight the same people just said he was lying, he cant win

I come on here very rarely now. Tbh reading through the majority of the threads makes me actively hate our fan base. I’ve been an exile for a few years now and still probably go to more games than half of the people commenting but reading this forum makes me want to wash my hands of SAFC tbh.

I know what you mean. And yet I love these mad bastards.

Fuckin' hell, owning or managing the team would be a pain in the arse though.

Could someone please summarize what was said and what has happened I’ve just woken up and I can’t read 45 pages )) thanks dear SMB

Here here. You'll just have to listen to the broadcast again via VPN after work. Same as me.
Agree with some of you regarding our so-called fans. Petulance in the extreme. I've been on this forum over 15 years and it's awful all the negativity or jubilation from one week to the next.
I blame the smartphone generation. It's almost like "I deserve more from my club. My club isn't doing well enough for me and I feel embarrassed and offended" Everyone out! haha until it gets better, that is..

From the owners perspective it's a case of what is being spent running the club isn't showing on the pitch. Having just appointed someone who is supposed to address that must be very worrying for him.

The biggest disappointment in that interview was the fact it came across to me that he reads and takes in far too much of this message board. Half the fukkers on here don't even go to the match

This 😂 I'm thick as fuck and I know not to take any notice of the bellends on here ffs.

SD probably thinks all the know nowts on here are massive ubers 😂
Hill saved the club.😂
Do you have proof he didn't?

This is what people are talking about, know nowts having a go when they know fuck all.

Cripes, your geography's a bit out, innit? Cockney? He's a carrot cruncher from Witney on the edge of the Cotswolds, the poor bugger.

That would be like calling someone from Sunderland a Sheffielder or a Lancastrian or even a Scotsman.

I am well aware he's from Oxford, it just sounds catchy and of course to compare it to Dellboy. The boot fits.
