I wear my Carolina Panthers dut to games.
Panthers is the natural choice for Sunderland fans imo.
Carolina is in the Deep South, the disenfranchised region of the more affluent US and they are the Black Cats (panthers). SAFC also toured Carolina many years back iirc and made an impression.
So its a Panthers dut for me!
Be wearing my panthers hat again soon with the cold weather coming in,see a few panthers hats at the games, even saw one at halftime at the Leicester U21 game last TuesdayI wear my Carolina Panthers dut to games.

I wonder if you go to Heinz Field you’d see loads of EPL and EFL hats dotted about
imagine seeing a fat bloke in a Pittsburgh jersey and a red SAFC bobble hat on

You're probably right mate. Most of those that I'd spoke to who hadn't heard of it were from Teesside.tbh I always thought it was a more general North East term.
I was brought up in Sunderland but my parents are from Peterlee so I probably picked it up that way
