You ever been to Germany or Argentina? Or Japan? Italy?
McClean is thick as fuck, but just because he has moved somewhere it doesn’t mean he has to agree with its past.
He is absolutely entitled not to bother wearing a poppy.
And Jeremy Corbyn .Fuck James McClean and fuck the IRA
I don't understand why wearing the rainbow poppy shows disrespect.
James Mcclean is a wanker.
And Jeremy Corbyn .
I don't understand why wearing the rainbow poppy shows disrespect.
You’re hugely conflatingWhat are you talking about.
I've been to Germany plenty of times, and I've been to Japan.
But, I didn't stand in a football team and refused to wear a German or Japanese symbol.
Of course the Irish lad can do what he wants, we live in a democracy, so fuck knows what point you think you're making.
The point remains that he's making a stand against this country's traditions but he couldn't wait to move here for the money. That's how much he thinks of Ireland and Wolfe Tone. Offer him a few quid and fuck Ireland and Wolfe Tone.
Probably a few on this thread, aye.I wear a poppy out of respect for the lads who were cannon fodder and I despise the bastards who sent them to their slaughter, being an atheist and republican I don't sing God save the Queen, would some posters berate me for this?
Couldn't agree more. You don't have to be far-right or war mongering to respect the people who have fought and died for this country. People living in holes in the ground, water up to the waste, rats having a good go at eating away at them, shells flying around them all over the place, a couple of hours sleep a night, the most basic food provisions, marching miles at night with boots that don't fit them cutting into their feet and sometimes asleep while marching due to being that tired - for 4 years solid. In other areas ending up in camps being tortured. I think we should just spare a thought for people who have put themselves through the ultimate sacrifice, whatever their motives, and actually a lot of the lads who went didn't really have any political motives.
Couldn't agree less. That would be like me not moving to Germany to work because I was still in a feege about WWII.And, I agree with you, why not move to Ireland and play for a club there? Because when push comes to shove he'd sell his beloved Ireland out for the money and move to England. Massive arsehole.
You’re hugely conflating
Exciting to see it used as an adjective though, even if it is in a poppy/remembrance thread. That's probably the weakest response to a reasoned point of view since David Brent said to his boss: "ooohhh, you're hard".
You’ve stated that he shouldn’t work in the UKThat's probably the weakest response to a reasoned point of view since David Brent said to his boss: "ooohhh, you're hard".
What a joke. I bet they hate him in Londonderry. Talking absolute shite about Ireland and Wolfe Tone but the first opportunity he had he made his way to England. Absolutely full of shite. There's nothing wrong with being proud of your country's traditions but making regular political statements about Britain and then moving there to earn a living is just unbelievable stupidity. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't move anywhere where I felt a resentment to due to past conflicts. Brainless.
The red poppy is meant as a mark of respect and remembrance to the fallen on all sides. What does a rainbow poppy actually mean? What's the point of it? If it's singling out a portion of the fallen because of their sexuality then it's disrespectful as it's not inclusive. If it's somehow saying look at me, I'm gay but I honour the fallen then it's making it about the person wearing it and so, it's disrepecful. So, what's it for?
Couldn't agree more.

You are quite happy going to Germany and Japan.
I’m sure you don’t agree with their past.
he is in the public eye. Therefore everything he does is visible.

You keep asking me what I’m talking about. And then ignoring itWhat are you talking about?
No one has said he shouldn't work in England just because he's Irish.
The point is that it's rich to make an active choice to not wear the poppy, standing in a team with everyone else wearing the poppy, because he thinks he is making a stand for Ireland.
There's nothing wrong with making a stand for Ireland, but then why didn't he make that stand when offered a few quid to move to England? Because when push comes to shove the money meant more to him than Ireland and Wolfe Tone and the other bollocks he spouts.
It's not that he's Irish, it's not that he's not wearing the poppy, it's that he's full of shit. He loves the money more than what he says he stands for and that says everything about him. If James McClean was playing for an Irish club and was in the newspapers saying he would never wear a poppy then I'd think fair enough, you obviously love your country and it's good to see a few principles you stand behind, but he isn't: he's doing and talking all of this shit in England because the money means more to him than Ireland.
