There's a fair bit to get through this week. Barely touched the Underworld stuff (only started listening now). For other things:
Vetiver - solid enough pych-folk. Their seventh album and you kind of know what you'll get.
A Winged Victory For The Sullen - as with past albums, they straddle the gap between classical and post-rock. Arguably more the former than latter this time.
Leif Vollebekk - kind of a piano based Bon Iver, I guess. Good songs, slightly MOR.
Michael Kiwanuka - he's becoming very, very good indeed! Reminds me a bit of late period Terry Callier at times.
Jeff Lynne's ELO - pleasant enough, sounds like ELO.
Fenella - keyboard based psychedelia. Sounds like Jane Weaver with less vocals, which is more or less what it is.
Cup - Nels Cline and his wife (Yuko Honda from Cibo Matto) being quite arthouse and experimental. Has its moments!
Spearmint - they're ace! Just good old school indiepop with the odd keyboard and cracking lyrics. Business as usual!
Warmduscher - probably my album of the week. They remind me of Earl Brutus if they'd had an American frontman.
Itasca - straightforward but high quality female singer-songwriter with a guitar stuff.
Sudan Archives - R'n'B with added violin and African rhythms. Well worth checking out...
Omni - arthouse post-punk from Atlanta. There's one new album each week that reminds me a bit of Field Music and this is it.
William Doyle - I guess it continues on from East India Youth in style. A little shoegazey, a little electronica, a lot very good!
