It was it all very civilised and nothing really of note to report.Seemed like a nice lad and didn’t chuck anyone under the bus to protect himself .

As we all know he might be a nice lad but the standard of football he served up was awful ,that’s why he lost his job.Being a good bloke just wasn’t enough .
Quite noticeable I thought how when questioned about Stewart and Charlie, he only chose to talk about Stewart (in a fond way) but no mention of Charlie at all. No love lost there.

How many managers after being sacked would have turned up?

I was there and he was very professional.

He was honest, held back from criticising others in the club just to win favour with the fans, and accepted that he made mistakes, but loved every minute of managing Sunderland. Still kept referring to US as if was still manager!

Massive respect from me and all that were there. Got a great reception.

However, we move on and we test Phil Parkinson now as the next manager!

good post.

I still hold big Mick in high esteem for doing these thing when times were shit.

Rafa seemed to be a very aproachable manager at Liverpool yet despite his adulation I cant recall him mingling with mags much? Clever fella if so.

When I asked JR about "why we never went for the jugular" against teams, he basically said sitting back was not his instructions and that it was down to the players which I found a tad strange.
Seemed to like the Don, but no mention of CM, and when questioned about the scouting staff and players brought in, he was very diplomatic shall we say ? U cud sense he wanted to elaborate but didn't.
Seems a very decent guy and obvly gutted we didn't go up.
Lee Clark was good and despite what anyone tells you, he got stitched up with the t shirt. Absolutely loved Reidy and his time at Safc. Was happy to pose for selfies and have a, bit chat, as was JR.
The pie and peas were canny, Jeff was his normal polished self (good luck on your Kenya bike ride for charity JB, and if a lion comes out of the bush, pedal like ####) and overall, a good night.

He has said this before which is why his 'once the players have crossed the white line....' comments pissed me off - he needed to coach from the touchline and change the pattern of pay as the game demanded.

exactly..f the players arent following instructions then get out on the touchline and shout at them..parekison did it in his game in charge..but ross never did..

I read on here that Chas wast to keen on what Ross was serving up ,maybe Ross knew that?

well when he said 100 points this season is target, he effectively put the manager in a position of deliver and that’s no big deal and anything less is failure

On the first roker report podcast with Donald and Methven after the play off defeat it came across like Methven wanted Ross gone while Donald wanted to stick with him, so not surprised by the above

Think this is a fair comment.
Can’t remember seeing him urging the players up the pitch when he was on the touch line.
At least most of us would have then acknowledged that it wasn’t down to JR.

I think he tried to negate this once by saying that supporters didn't realise how noisy games were and how difficult it is to pass on instructions - I don't buy that especially as sometimes I can even hear the players shouting to each other....
