Nissan Night Shift

Oh its alright. I'll just take your word for it. So, in your words "Most of the workers at Nissan voted to make the EU competitors" and you've based that on a chat down the pub with a relative and a few mates.
As I freely said mate its anecdotal

Their net profit is 9.5%.

Tariffs under WTO terms on cars are 10% per car. That’s not to mention the increased costs of imports as a result of sterling plunging even further. Add to that the fact that japan now has a tariff free trade deal (as well as Morocco which is home to the Nissan-Renault super factory) with the EU and the fact that 70-80% of the cars made for export at Sunderland go to the EU and I really don’t see why they’d stay.
"Death by a thousand cuts". Have a word with yourself man I felt embarrassed reading it

steady on. I’m a staunch Remainer and would love to pin this on Brexit but it’s unconnected is my guess.
I'm a leaver but your right, it has nothing to do with leaving the EU. Its about the contraction of the worldwide vehicle market.. You only have to look at the sales of vehicles across all or Europe and the UK falling to the worst sales figures for years.

We’ve been told nowt ( I take the exports down to the port )

rumour has it we’ll still be doing nightshift as production remains the same

The EU signs a deal removing tarriffs from cars coming in from Japan

and nearly every remainer is crying Brexit.

Get your heads out of the sand!

It's like a f***ing cult

"MUST NOT BLAME EU.... NO MATTER WHAT..... IT'S PERFECT!!!!!!!!!" 🇪🇺😍

Whilst I don't believe the uncertainty of our future trading relationship with the EU to be the major contributing factor, it's a bit naïve to think Nissan won't maintain a plant in the EU considering they sell over 500,000 cars here each year.

I have no doubt they will maintain a plant there, I just believe they will scale back operations as a result of the trade deal.

There wasn’t even a mention of Brexit in the official briefing.

Diesel downturn, emissions and power trains.

I’ll bet you a pint that we don’t leave on a no deal, I don’t think we’ll even leave at all.

There’s been mention of it in the BBC national news tonight. Just saying.

Ok. Fair enough. I was (granted very vaguely) referring to the clamour by many for us to exit without a deal.

We’re going nowhere, it’s beyond any way of reaching any agreement in my opinion, I cannot see how we can go, too many on both sides here and the EU are doing everything to make sure it won’t happen.

There was on here as well.

BBC business editor Simon Jack just signed off his report saying Brexit makes closure of the plant more a probability than a possibility. Don't think anyone in Nissan has explicitely said that! Might be a lot people speculating on it but pretty poor reporting.

Nissan and renault are business partners having a plant that is so flexible the bosses at Nissan will be laughing their cocks off at the scare mongering they will get a huge payment off the government firstly
then they will take on the British build of the renault captur, kadjur, and clio avoiding import taxes on these cars when most of their competitors will have to pay it they will steal the market of small and midsized cars in Britain

You do know that the French government are the single largest shareholders in Renault, and they wont be letting any of their cars be built in the UK
