Haha exactly, and what difference does being early do for those people? Do they get a sticker on their good job being 5 mins early chart? No, they just get wound up by those that aren't on time because they begrudge the fact that they had to be on time.

I bet these feckers that turn up 5 mins early are the useless twats that get bugger all done all day

Anybody can be late at any given time, something’s are out of your control
People though who are continuously late are very much useless losers in life.

Well said, there's a lad who strolls in late in my graft practically every day and gets away with it. On the odd occasion he's on time, he fucks off to the shop! Manager does nowt about it which does my nut.

If one of them started waltzing in at 8:10 and nowt was done about it they would all be pissed off, then we'd have problems asking people to a little extra when one of them is getting a free hour a week.....

I did say in another post as long as the time is made up, so if you finished at 4 they'd finish at 4:10. Obviously if you are doing less hours than everyone else by being late then there's more of a problem than someone starting 10 mins after you

in redundancy situations they don't get marked down for time and attendance

if you are regularly late then it needs addressing

Your best employee might be super hard working, puts in extra hours but gets in 5 mins late every day, would you risk losing them over something so petty?
Well if that employee has anything about them they would look at what they could do to make sure they got in on time each day.

Do you think others are going to wait around for you to selfishly do your ten minutes extra because you couldn't be arsed to come in at your contracted time?

No? Wait, Is this what happens when people are late? Everyone that's early sits and waits to start work like when one person's meal hasn't arrived at a restaurant? No wonder everyone's so mad

Unless you work on a line or have people to deal with, it makes little difference if you arrive at 8 or 8.05. It’s a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of time wasted on the Internet and phones.

Sorry but it’s a personal pride thing for me.
Yes I accept there are occasions where being late is totally unavoidable, but when it’s a habit then there’s no excuse imo.

I don't actually have a start time. I've got to do 7.5 hrs a day and I guess there is a general understanding I should be there around core business hours but that's it. Once the work is getting done it's not questioned.
Same here. Hope all those pontificating about being late etc aren't using company time to post on here ;)

I don’t have set hours, fully flexible working. Mostly do project based stuff so doesn’t require managing people etc. where “presence” at certain times is necessary.

Works for me, often start at 7 and finish at 3. Work from home a lot as well which is very different to anything I’ve done before.
