What’s the worst place you’ve ever been to?

I suppose most big cities have good and bad places. I stayed in a hotel in Manchester a while back, they didn't have a proper bar, so I asked if there was a Pub nearby - The lass waiting on table said there was, just up the road, but she wouldn't recommend it as I'd be likely to get my head kicked in :) I haven't returned to that particular hotel

Worst place in the UK was some shitty B&B in Liverpool. Actually the B&B wasn't that bad, the area around it was terrible. Shiel Road. Google it now and the first story that comes up is about it being in the middle of the red light district. Rough as fuck. Stayed there on a stag do in Liverpool, can only think my mate booked it up seeing how cheap it was. Group of about 15 of us, £10 a night each. Got taxis from the door wherever we needed to go. Couple of lads went to find a newsagent and came back with stories of some kid on a bike shouting abuse at the local prossies. It was 10 in the morning.

I spent a night in the Carter Hotel in 1989. My mate went to Liverpool Poly and visiting him there I’d met his college mate, a top lad from Belfast. That Summer he said he was gonna be in america same as me and out of the blue I got a call saying him and his mates were in New York. We had a class night out getting lashed round all the Irish Bars in Greenwich Village after which it was easier to just bunk in with the lads in their hotel room rather than try to find my way back to Long Island where I was staying.

I didn’t think much of it at the time but later found out that the lads had had their wallets nicked and not long after read a big expose in Spin magazine about the crack cocaine business in New York City, the epicentre of which was the Carter Hotel. Bodies found there, the works! It’s still going anarl although I’d like to think under new ownership and having had a clean out and a lick of paint!
Fuck, just been looking at pictures of this hotel. Definetly what Terror Towers at Disney is based on. It looks awful.

Went through Skid Row a few times in LA

Totally heartbreaking, people some cracking and injecting all day everyday.

70 year old women mainly naked on the game.

Gang bangers eveywhere, crazy to think it’s probably 2 miles away from some of the richest people / companies in the world.

This country - Wood End in Coventry. Only place in the Midlands utility companies wont enter without a police escort.

Globally - Mauritania

Surprise - San Francisco. Since it became a sanctuary city it's full of violence, poverty, public drug use and serious mental health issues. Even the affluent centre is full of trouble at all times.

I'm in Campeche, Mexico at the minute and my fellow workers are horrified when I say I went out on a night. Fucked if I am staying in, it's not that bad. The back streets do the best drink deals (bars across the front of the shops). I went for a run tonight 35 f***ing degrees, I was blowing like a bellows.

My daughter and neices loved that place. Let them run about in the sun man, you don't have to go into the shitty 'complex'. Mind, it might have worsened since I was there. Last time would have been maybe 2005.

Thought Campeche was ok, enjoyed watching the sun set over the sea. Quite a few families out & there was a decent show in the main square later

My hotel is in Ciudad del Carmen, not the nice bit. Its only 30 minutes walk to the beach though, so not all bad.

How many Egyptians have you met? I worked with some and they were fine.

In the Arab world they tell jokes about Egyptians in the same way that we tell Irish jokes.
not many but had a bad experience in a taxi with some a few years ago near Sharm el Sheik (Naama Bay) when I was with my lass at the time, in fairness mind the ones I've met in this country (about half a dozen) have been spot on almost to a man. In fact one of the barmen in the ISIS (pub:)) is Egyptian and I was talking to him about Naama Bay and the Camel Bar not so long ago.
