Every time we get into a good position, we screw it up.. Pressure getting to him?

He can't seem to capitalise on an open opportunity, and we had plenty of chances last season
Probably is under a bit if pressure. Expectations are high...and he hasn't exceeded them, so far. But he hasnt failed either in my opinion. Dissapointing that we are not further ahead than we are...and a few opportunities have slipped. But we are not behind where we would have targeted I imagine.

Jack Ross quote. “One defeat in nine this season, six wins in the last seven, that’s rubbish.
“It’s tiresome and it’s part of the problem at this club. We win 3-1 away from home, and always want to improve on what we do, I just fail to see sometimes what will make people satisfied.

This is so true get behind the lads.

Spot on, should have just told the truth and said some of our fans are bellends
Who isn’t ‘behind the lads’?

Ha ha, see what happens tonight if we don’t win, just tick off the names

Well, a hard-earned draw against a newly-relegated team. Surely nobody can accuse Ross of being negative with this one? Fast attacking game, lots of shots, lots of crosses, lots of chances. xG must have been through the roof tonight. We didn't win but at least we had that, right?

f***ing bump.

As I said Jack, they weren't the goalposts set by SD so in my opinion your initial post that I replied to is incorrect.

Everything else is debatable. I'm no jack ross fan, I just think he has a point in what he said.

Can't criticise him mate. You enjoy that tonight? We beat Accrington ynar - we should be grateful.

Ross reminds me of Moyes in so many ways, dour, quick to blame anybody but himself, zero tactical nous and a poor recruitment record. Moyes got lucky at Everton, a good staff helped, and didn't really get found out as useless until he came here. Former central defenders don't make great managers. I hope in one way that he'll be around till the end of the season which will mean we're promoted but I just can't see it. The sooner we get rid the better. We need to shed his manic negativity.

It is all his fault we are in another season of this league and by the looks of it you're blaming the fans......Are we to blame for previous relegations, losing cup finals, etc, etc?

I’ve never blamed the fans for results. But if you don’t think fans and media can create fear and make it harder for players to perform then to quote a certain manager your an ostrich!
As it is Ross did a great job helping refloat a sinking club last year when there was enormous change and the club had to be rebuilt from the bottom up.
That understanding does not extend to this year. He has to get us promoted this year. I want him to be given every chance to do this before any judgement is made. All I see however is a manager and a group of players who are scared to lose...why might that be do you think?
I watched Liverpool live on Saturday and noticed how much they forced the game, lots of flicks and tight triangles to attempt to break down the mags defence. No concern at all about it breaking down and no angst from the crowd when it did.
Sunderland fans have in the past given players wings. In this division it clips them. 30000 people turn up and many don’t want to be there (playing this standard of football). It’s reflected in the atmosphere and the opinions on social media.
I hate the standard and I go through the motions as much as anyone, but I think I also appreciate the limitations of these players and just want to give them every chance to express themselves.
Most games we had a handful of shots on gerl.....this is League Fookin Wan

It’s fear that creates that stat, not defensive football
Let’s see what the data looks like after tonight. However have a look at this graphic and tell me that Safc fans aren’t well within their rights to be concerned at our performances thus far this season.

Fear - they do enough not to lose. But Not adventurous enough to risk losing possession. Manifests it self with punts up field when Wyke is on pitch. We have a real problem with the mentality of the players and the expectations of the fans. The 30000 fans sit in pretty much silence and in judgement willing them to do well but in their heads ready to be critical.
We should be less worried about our managers tactics and more worried about his ability to make them feel 10ft tall.
We saw 25 minutes of what they can do last night then the rest of the match was when the demons took over and they were drained of all confidence.

I've got plenty of criticism for Ross, but if I remember correctly Keane made a similar comment and was hailed a genius.
tbf Keane got us promoted in his first season and then kept us up- that's the difference- if we were flying in the championship now Ross could say whatever he wanted

While atmosphere will play a part it is clearly the junior partner here. The biggest factor BY FAR is the ability of the players and manager. It isn’t even close. If the players aren’t confident it’s because they and the manager fail too often.

So if as others have said "we have the best squad in the league"...

1. Why do they fail?

2. Why are they afraid to fail?

3. Are there any factors other than the managers instructions which could lead to these failures?
