Won't help. Need mods to sort this place so decent posters can flourish instead of being driven away.

I think it is better than it was as idiots are shouted down/put in their place quite quickly by members. However we are all posting anonymously and to many people abuse this by showing a lack of respect for others.
Any abuse should just see the post removed instantly. When you consider that forums like this have very much replaced debate in the pub... if you talked to strangers like that in a pub you would have a fight ever 10 minutes

Only a matter of days before its announced.
Won't bring INSTANT success, but medium to long term its great news.

Some managing of expectations will be needed on here. Money does not guarantee you anything.... anyone remember that club in the north east with the multi billionaire US owner. A painful 10 years they had when they were one of the biggest spenders in world football.
How the club is being ran will be equally as important.
Add to this and new owners are looking for a return on the investment and realistically doing a Southampton or Wolves should be the extent of our ambition. Hitting some heights but struggling to maintain it year on year. Why? Because it’s pretty difficult to keep great teams together without your best players getting picked off. Look at the Southampton team that beat us 8-0, half that team ended up at Liverpool, Man Utd or Spurs.
So your turning over players a lot, never good for maintaining a consistently good performance.
Add to this your best managers being picked off .. see Southampton again.
It’s not straight forward this money equals success malarkey.

After 30 years of following SAFC up and down the country, traveling 3 hours for a home match and being the only Sunderland supporter in my school and workplaces, I just can't wait for someone to accuse me of being a "glory hunter" because of my accent when we actually stop being shite! 😂😂😂
This ⬆️ Likewise me mate!
It’s your words that make supporting Sunderland extra special for me. Good post.

I think we're above 'shite' now and getting towards mildly reasonable attacking football, with some great results!

Haway man, you're joking aren't you

We're not at school Chewy ... people are having a bit of fun that's all.

Most of the posts are saying exactly what you are and hoping for a sustainable club with a good academy etc.

But surely, after the horrendous relegations, Moyes, Rodwell, etc etc etc we're entitled to have a few daft dreams.

And who's going to be put in charge of 'managing expectations' ...

... can we consider this your official application

Great idea Reiver, wish I had thought of it.
You can be my proposer

We are sounding more like the mags with every thread. Just because we have a potential takeover from rich overlords doesn't mean they're going to throw it all over the place and we're the new PSG. I'd be sitting tight lipped until everything was signed off and transfer evidence of this was evident. We're Sunderland, shit like this doesn't happen to us. We're gonna look like mugs/mags if this doesn't pan out as you're all predicting.

Dear me, can we not just have a laugh without being lectured and constantly referred to Mags.

I'm excited because I know, for a fact, that it's all done and dusted.

If you want to sit there tight lipped I'd suggest you start now ....

Most on here wouldn't talk face to face with another person the way they do on here

I agree with most of that, but I'd counter it by saying we have much more untapped potential than Southampton - and so do our prospective new owners.

Our lass is from Kent from a family of gooners and this year became a Sunderland season card holder. She’s definitely no glory hunter as I started taking her to the games last season
