Takeover Rumours

I'm not asking anyone to do anything mate ...

... but no one should be telling me not to get excited when one of the richest men in the world is becoming involved in my club.

I've been told, by a friend, that the deal has reached the point of no return.

I really don't care what strangers think, I'm posting for the people who know me.
So is the dell bloke directly involved, the papers mainly seem to mention the other 3 blokes and the dell bloke might have a minor involvement

Fair enough
I think I'm a bit wary that it may not happen
But that's just me

Call me Mr Sceptical marra

You can all have a good laugh at me in a few weeks

I will be too busy celebrating to be laughing, or you will be wagging your finger at me going "I did warn you" ! Either way I am good with it 😎🥰
maybe he's just trying to temper people's expectations?

I'm slightly surprised how excited people are getting. Surely reading the football press shows how quickly takeover attempts can fall apart. It isn't being anti-Sunderland in mentioning that sort of thing, just being realistic.

It will be hard for this to be a bad thing if it does all work out, but the 'scarf above the head' is a good phrase to sum up a sensible approach.

I wouldn't call it a sensible approach, more a 'least emotional risk' approach (totally understandable given our history for the more emotional amongst us). 👍😉
becausee im not at work im typing more slowly.

Punctuation is shit mind ! 😱😉

MSD Partners are not the buying vehicle. The principals are doing this as individuals (whether via a new LLP or whatever remains to be seen) precisely because they want this to be a long term project without the need to provide regular returns for investing clients. Part of this will involve increasing the club's involvement with the community. They understand that the relationship between club and city is essentially symbiotic.
Interesting to see if Michael Dell is part of it or not.

As I said earlier mate, I'm posting to the many people who know me.

Some have visited one or other of the mansions I've looked after, in the UK and south of France, or seen enough to know who I know etc.

I'm aware that some of this stuff sounds preposterous but if I posted lies there'd be people on here who'd pull me to bits.
I don't know you but you do sound like an interesting person to know and I understand that you need to be careful what you say right now and respect that 100% Thanks for the info you have given us although I am keeping a lid on my feelings until the official announcement I am pretty excited for the future of my club for the first time in many years.

I sat in a bar on holiday in Spain last night eating ice cream and drinking beer with my family with Athletico Madrid followed by Barcelona on the TV behind me. I wanted to let everyone know that I supported one of the richest football clubs in the world. That the Athletico supporters behind me needed to know the name Sunderland AFC as they would hear a lot more about them soon and that football would soon have a new major player vying for elite status in Europe.

i didn't but that's what this deal potentially means for us. It's a game changer.

It's a game changer all right mate and, you're right again, it'll be a massive relief for everyone when it's all announced.

I just hope we can all embrace this opportunity without some people pulling it to pieces as they did when Short sold the club to Donald. The way he was accused of being a penniless conman was in poor taste imo. He's been as honest as possible despite some difficult circumstances. If he's managed to pull this sale/investment off it could be the best thing that's happened in the last half century.

Fair points. Linking the local area and investing into community would be a huge win.

The football club and area go hand in hand , love the city love the club simple as that.
Very much this. Supporting Sunderland is not like picking a Premier league team like man utd or even the mags.
I wasn't born in the area but did live there for 30 years. The mags were riding high just as I got settled and I lived in a mixed area(the mags used to tell me "you'll never be a Geordie", as if I wanted to be and how f***ing right they were ) , but Wearside gets under your skin. The inclusivity, humour and the down to earth nature of the people and the club experience are inseparable. We don't go to the ground to see strangers and the club knows it's history and meaning.
Back in my native Yorkshire now but still a season ticket holder travelling for a third division team (not for long), the crack and to see my Mackem kids.
FTM and let the good times roll 🤞
