Yeah I listened to it last night and it sounded to me there was absolutely no chance we would be intrested in him. Made a point about no championship sides bidding for him (not certain of the relevance because I don't remember seeing any championship clubs after Dobson/McLaughlin/McNulty) and then said if we signed Maddison we would have to put Mcgeady on the bench which is just total bullshit and I have no idea whatsoever why he said it.

He made a point by saying no championship clubs were in for him because he's a wrong un basically. That's why he's never moved on, or indeed up. Nothing to do with ability on a matchday etc, it's everything else that comes with him.

So why not say no league 1 club has tried to sign him? It's sounded more like he was saying championship clubs don't think he's good enough.

And why back that up further with the nonsense about Mcgeady?

Because his stats speak for themselves tbf. He's already been there a number of years so if nobody stumps up the money he'll just stay and keep providing assists and goals for their team. Don't suppose they're desperate to get rid.
If it were me I would buy him. Maybe he might improve his attitude etc at a big club. At Peterborough he's a big fish in a small pond so to speak, and he knows it. According to lads down here he puts more effort into his tattoo shop than he does in training. He's in the last year of his contact iirc, if he's got anything about him he won't sign a new one there.

Tbh Donald's comments came across as somebody bullshitting to avoid the answer. I just don't think we want to spend 2.5 million on someone and that's fair enough imo.

People often either over exaggerate, give too much info, give illogical info, focus specifically on something meaningless to detract from a main issue, or give lots of different answers to justify something, when they are bullshitting because they think the more they say the more likely it is someone will believe them. 3 of those flags were raised in his comments.

Their chairman has already come out a few times and said our football people, ie Richard Hill etc don't rate him so he won't be coming here.

i would hope if we are to spend £2.5m on a player we thinkthey are championship standard..
no champo club has bid for maddison implies he isnt champo standard..and thats a lot of money for a player who isnt champo standard.

Exactly,he isnt good enough for champo .Their gobshite chairman has been touting him for ages and no champo interest has emerged .He was desperately hoping daft old safc would cough up ,grigg signing has woke us up.I got a feeling we are so mentally affected by the last 10 years we the fans push for signings that we will deffo get cos nobody wants them.Hence wont then suffer rejection.

No, it's illogical that Mcgeady wouldn't be able to play because he would replace him and its a totally different point the the original point he made about championship clubs not wanting him

He used more than one justification, and exaggerated by saying our best player wouldnt be able to play, which had no logic behind it because there's no reason they both couldn't play and he knows that. I don't mind at all if we don't want to sign him for whatever reason they deem fit but he's not being honest with that response.

while the mcgeady thing was strange..do you bot think it could be as simple as they dont think maddison is very good? and if he says that and people bray, he can say, "well no one else thinks he is any good either", so it justifies his origibnal point. NO one in this league or the league above wants maddison at that price, his lifestyle issues are horeendous, and eman there wont be any resale value, signing marcus mddiosn would be very very stupid for a club that wants out of this league.
