It’s a steep climb like, I’ve never been brave enough to run it all from bottom to top.

You nearly didn’t see me, alarm was set 7am but didn’t get out the house till 9.

You must cycle a few miles if you’re heading up my way? Nice and downhill on the way back though I guess ?
Check out my cycling activity on Garmin Connect. #beatyesterday

55 mile. Forgot to start the watch a couple of times. Went up peth bank, then it was reasonably flat after that. Legs are dead now!

It's a good hill for reps, get yourself up! Did you go far?

Two minging runs this weekend. I was shooting for 20+ miles yesterday AM but bombed on 11.5m at my slowest average pace since I started running. I thought because I had ran 18 a week Friday gone, then ran my best 10 mile time on Monday - then my best 10k and 5K time on Thursday, that I could disrespect the 20 mile on Saturday...I'd been drinking albeit lightly on Thursday and Friday, didn't eat right and rushed out the door on the morning to try and make the match kicking off on TV.

Then today after an another (🥴) session on the booze, Chinese takeaway, I put out 8.5m to make sure I got the 20 over the full weekend which is at least something. That was a 10 mile p/m speed as well.

I really want to sharpen up now 6 weeks away from my first ultra marathon and perhaps this is the reality check I needed, but at the same time I am trying to take some consolation / confidence that if I can get within 11.5m of the finish line on race day then I'll finish it because it'd be hard to feel more shitty then yesterday AM.

I do want to put a 20-22m run in, perhaps the weekend coming or maybe the one after, and aside from that follow DA's advice of getting some hills & tempo runs in. I think I'll also do a decent trail run and a hike in the lakes in the coming 6 weeks.

Some of you may be familiar with my avatar of David Goggins who is big on social media. I see he is back running 100 milers this weekend, the winner completely the Leadville 100 in 16 hours 30 mins..

I pretty much don’t drink now and find that does keep me focused and certainly helps me sleep and recover better.

There’s a running track behind a cricket club about 1/3 way down. I run back up from there after a session, that’s enough :)

Did 12 mile, short long run as I’ve had some hamstring bother recently. Should’ve been doing Jelly T.

Paid my annual tax to Neil Sleeman Friday to get it sorted :)

I can blag a half marathon, even a 16miler, but anything longer than that I have to take seriously.

It's certainly something I need to consider going into next year with the amount of longer runs I want to do. I'm going to cut way back now ahead of 28/09 - I've got one "occasion" next Saturday tea time but aside from that I don't see why I can't stub it out. Anxiety from work at the minute is the only other thing...killing me! But that's a different issue.

I used to drink daily, started as a couple after work socially, turned into 8-12 cans a night in the house which I’d blame on work pressure, I’m in a higher pressure job now and use exercise as my outlet rather than drinking.

I’ve been drunk half a dozen times this year, 2 Sunderland away days and a mini break in Prague, I’m due on holiday again shortly but I must admit it’s changed me for the better.

My other half reckons she likes me more but she’s not quite as attractive sober :)

You should definitely try it. My running really kicked on when I cut out drinking at home. I just drink when I’m out now which, with busy kids, is fairly rare tbh.

I find running deals with stress and anxiety better than drink or tabs ever did

Best of luck

I am now saddened and disappointed as I thought that it was you in your avatar. It had motivated me to become a muscular runner but now it all feels worthless, a waste.

if you fancy a mooch up penshaw, send me a message.
I would love to do Leadville. A friend went over and got timed out at half way
