They’re self appointed experts mate and as such should not be taken any more seriously than any of the rest of us. In fact there are many posters on this board whose opinions I value and trust way more than those lads.

I think the pleasing thing is we can see already that Willis is clearly a higher quality player than anything we had last season and reinforces the views of those who insisted the only reason we did not get promoted last season was the centre half’s.
That loan move for the Burnley lad should have sealed promotion but he was no better than what we had.

It may be worth remembering at this point that John O’Shea loved a bit wrestle in the penalty area.

its an aspect of his game that does worry me. John O’Shea used to love a bit wrestle in the box but refs were a lot more lenient with it back then. Refs now are picking up on it more and more. I don’t mind him standing his ground and giving as good as he gets but not if he’s the one initiating it.

My hope would be he doesn't do it as much of he has genuine pace next to him like Willis. Because I'm less worried about it in the box at set pieces where I think, at this level, he'll largely get away with it. I'm more worried by the fact it seems to be his impulse reaction when someone gets the run on him in behind too. And he won't get away with that very much at any level.

JOS would be absolutely fucked if he played in the PL now with VAR. He would give a penalty away literally every single corner. It always astounded me how much he got away with it.

He’s a good lad to have on the bench in that he can do a job anywhere across the defence. There’s no way he should be starting games though. I’d pick Baldwin over him ten times out of ten.
