Ross calls for perspective

In terms of getting into the right areas we did that a lot more often, the final ball however was shocking. The amount of times the ball sailed through their penalty area with no real accuracy was a joke.

There were a few signs of improvement i think. The centre of midfield competed much better and like i said, we got into better areas. We just have to work on making that count a lot better.

Our distribution from centre back was piss poor and needs huge work. Flanagan is the weak link of the 3 imo.

Hume isnt the answer at left back either. I didnt understand why people rated him last season either. Too lightweight, doesnt fully commit to tackles, doesnt compete in the air and was standing off his man numerous times and allowing them free crosses. A left sided wing back and an attacking midfielder away from making real progress imo.

To be honest I can't blame Jack Ross for the poor crosses. I hope he gets time to turn it around but if we lose against Ipswich it'll be like 9/11 on here.

I’ll give him perspective.

60+ games last year and we regressed as a side, we are playing a more negative set up yet conceded a 1 on 1 after 4 minutes when they waltzed round Tom Flanagan who he continues to pick. We are playing a formation that doesn’t look right for our side and we’ve barely put a 90 minutes together since he joined.

The bloke is inept and in reality he’s lucky he even has a job. The bloke is consistently making excuses and covering his own back every time he speaks in the media.

Tbh I was confused by that comment - not entirely sure what he means. Prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and he’s just mis-spoken. It’s a bit of a riddle tbh.

If he means we are an average league 1 team then be should be looking elsewhere for a job tbh. 30,000 don’t turn up to watch average league 1 teams.

But it’s not clear - so let’s hope that’s not what he meant. Otherwise we are fucked tbh.

"I understand the expectations of this club, but the reality and what we have in the group is different to the perception,” said the Sunderland boss.

Saying the players arent up to it then?
basically aye, he seems to be going out of his way to piss people off atm.

The perspective is that he is managing a club with infinitely more resources than the other teams in the league and the teams results have slowly but surely got worse.
He should do the decent thing if he hasn't sorted it out by the end of September.

Sounds to me as if he's saying we should not question his management 🤔

"I understand the expectations of this club, but the reality and what we have in the group is different to the perception,” said the Sunderland boss. “It is fine lines, but we dominated that game territorially, and you only do that with good players and when you are pushing.

“It becomes more difficult when you go behind because the whole game is more frustrating for obvious reasons, such as how difficult it is to get a flow. But we feel we have attributes we didn’t have last season in terms of more pace and mobility" 🤔
