It's a weak excuse imo. Were they running into space? Were they creating opportunities and putting the defence under pressure?
They know that no service is coming, and if you think Wyke is going to create his own opportunities..you'll be waiting a long time. That is not his or Grigg's game. You're not going to get a world beater creating things up front by himself. Be realistic.

Grigg has shown little so far to suggest he's anything but a plodder. He reminds me of Danny Graham.
You’re only judging him off half a season with us then? He’s shown plenty in his career to suggest he’ll do alright with the right service at this level.

Not a fan of the set up at all. The strikers looked ill positioned and often dragged to the wings as a consequence. The lads at the back and Burge in goal did well, but it’s clear they are still learning a new system. Big gaps both in front and behind the wingbacks and a light midfield incapable of dominating proceedings. If we are gonna play 3 at the back then I’d much rather see 3-2-2-2-1 with inside forwards there (McGeady and Watmore/McGuire).

Yes it’s a friendly, but if this is the time to form the tactics then I think we have to address how open we look. Kimpioka, Willis and Burge did well
As did McGeough, got to be ahead of Leadbetter.

After seeing them both last season, I really struggle to see how anyone can defend their performances. Do they ever have a shot from outside the box? It seems unless they are gifted a chance inside the box they're not going to score from what you're saying. I wouldn't be confident of Wyke scoring if he was through on goal and the opposing side were all in our half.

How often does Wyke get on the end of corners?
