Takeover in trouble

There’s loads more they could have done

They lack ambition in my opinion, I don’t think they grasp how bad it is for Sunderland to be in league one as it’s all they’ve ever known

I don’t think a lot of it’s intentional or like trying to pull the wool, I just not sure they’re grasping the situation personally

Too much patting themselves on the back for cutting costs, well done that’s your job lads.
You come across as very entitled, you’d make a good mag - ‘wuh deserve better’ etc.
Suck it up, take your medicine, look in the mirror at how far we’d fallen due to years of poor decisions and mismanagement. Accept this was inevitable and what we deserved because of it, look at how bad things could have been, given the crippling debts poor club structure etc.
We’re healing very nicely thank you, no things aren’t perfect but they are much better than they could have been. We need to build a sustainable club based on sound prudent decisions - longer term success will come from that. It sounds like you want to throw (someone else’s!) money at the situation - that’s the last thing we need to do. Have you not learned anything from the last ten years? We are not entitled to success, we need to earn it. I trust the plan of those in charge and I’m prepared to take the time it needs for us to get there.

If man Utd were relegated twice in successive seasons, would you expect their fans to be told "fuck ambition, just got to be a league one club now"

Self entitled fans

operationally profitable yes..and a much better finanical state yes-but not yet a good investment..
newcastle are a worse investment like..

gpt what?
that safc is big? yes they knoew that..though probably bigger even than they imagined...
but being a massive club doesnt change fundamental laws of finance or the rules of this league..

So why would we not be a good investment? A club making an operational profit that is debt free with 23k season ticket holders in the third division, a 49k seat stadium and an academy, neither of which need any kind of redevelopment. If Donald and Methven have actually got us on a footing where we are one of the soundest clubs in the country financially, surely we’d be just about one of the best investments available in English football given how relatively cheap we’d be to buy into?

Or is the financial situation not quite as rosy as it has painted to be?

What a ridiculous response that perfectly reflects the deluded Mag esq elements of our support base. In which lifetime has it been appropriate to compare ourselves to Man Utd?
Fuck off with your mag insults.

You must be a one if you're happy with us staying in this division for a prolonged period of time..

I don't think anyone's happy Steve.

Let's look at it from a slightly different angle which some on here won'y=t agree with.

When SD and co took over we were already in this division. The best they could hope for was our equal worst finish in history. They've reduced expenditure which will have made us not only more sustainable but potentialy more attractive to new investors. The current owners have fron day dot said that they would require additional investment if we were promoted so i see nothing wrong with them looking for it.

We don't have a god given right to be in the top league and spending doesn't guarantee success so we do need to suck it up and accept that we are where we are for a number of reasons. We now need to build and improve on what we have.

Over the last few days i've seen people say that those who are accepting have "clapped us to league 1", some would argue that the booing of players has contributed to us being in league 1.

Whatever the reasons, we are all supporters and want the best for the club. How many seasons did Sheffield Utd spend down here and they are now back where i'm sure their fans believe they belong.

But, but, stumpy and slimy are doing a grand job according to some fans on here! Ffs

Like the manager, the owners are totally out their depth and have no grasp of the club.....Eastleigh MkII.
Interesting seeing who’s liked this post. @Speedy1976 I thought you said you generally liked and had no problem with the owners yesterday when you were spreading those malicious rumours about McLaughlin?

This week will give us a better indication of where we're at. If there's no frees coming in at all then I'd start smelling a rat. I know we've got to be selective and that, but we're realistically not going to make cash signings for every squad position.

Agreed

Not spending money doesn't really worry me - you shouldn't have to in this league

Its more the dearth of anything coming out of the club that seems concerning. Really hopeful they're keeping things under wraps and the recruitment structure is being put in place, but not confident

its the level of capital investment thats the issue...

Whos chris weatherspoon? Donald just pasted him on twitter

Suppose that's what happens when groups do proper due diligence. Will get denied/the journalist will get pelters, but...

SUNDERLAND. Takeover in trouble. Buyer Mark Campbell’s group now want to pay less. Not gone down well. All sorts of haggling. Doesn’t look like being done this window if at all.

But what Chris???? You have absolutely no idea do you what’s going on?? Or do you want to pretend you are in the know???
There’s a bright lad giving Donald shit on that thread too:

‘you don't have a clue at times either unfortunately, don't be angry because some people don't immediately fall in line with the PR you push. Maybe prove doubters wrong with good decisions at the club, not being snide on twitter. Not being able to accept scepticalism is worrying’

Any idea what ‘scepticalism’ is?

Ah the “You sound like a mag” argument

Great stuff mate

This post highlights exactly the attitude I’m talking about

You’ve given up and think last year was acceptable, it isn’t

Really really poor post

As ever, we have an embarrassing summer with uncertainty and paralysis. Nowhere near prepared for the new season. Again.

Didnt realise summer was over like. Wimbledon starts today man.

Thought it was an excellent post. People are thinking that because we arent shouting from the rooftops at us not going up last year means we've given up.

Charlie spoke of the Dortmund model and later revealed he didn't mean we would implement any of the things that made them successful.

I expected a new model, one can be implemented in a week and often best done when you have a high turnover of staff, far more difficult to do so later on down the line.
