No but you do think you should be outspending Bournemouth and Brighton with magic beans.

They outspend you because they were promoted with low wage bills and no debt.

You were promoted with a 60m spend and 70m wage bill
Sissoko and Wynaldum balanced that.

He did, but he was on about us where we think we should be. No Newcastle fan I know thinks we should be there now. We are a miles away from there now, and the vast majority of our fans know that, despite what’s written on here.
Can you imagine the Geordie wankfest if Rafa took you to 5th? Why is Pardew not revered for this achievement under the dastardly Mr Ashley?

Any team entering premier league should think twice about spending their "140 million" on players transfers, agent fees, bonuses and wages. It wont last them long.

Cardiff did not overspend (RIP Sala apart), and they will be a lot better off than Fulham, and can comfortably bounce back in again at first time of asking and earn again.

Teams like the Mags survive on consolidation, as are Burnley, Southampton, Bournemouth etc etc. Ashley knows he wont bankroll an attempt at Champions League, for that he is very clever, it aint worth the risk as its fruitless. Arsenal, Spurs, Manchesters, Scousers already have that sewn up for years and years now.

Mid table finishes do not deserve shop shouting activities. We did not march through streets when we were fighting relegations, its just not the done thing with us .

Few myth busters for our Geordie friends.

The club has made minus 20m in the past 2 financial years.

You may have made the 19th highest revenue in Europe when you finished 10th but revenue is not profit.

You were nowhere near being the 19th most profitable club in Europe. Without profit you can't sign players

I don’t know our wage bill or what our total running costs are, or what we owe the owner, but if @Grumpy Old Man was black and white, I’m sure he could find some loopholes in your argument.

Until someone I respect on here tells me to, I might just stay

Numbers from the 2018 accounts Wage bill £93.6m (2017 £112.2m), other operating costs £26.0m (2017 £28.6m). Total running costs £119.6m (2017 £140.8m). His suggestion was accurate for 2017. I suspect the reason for the higher wage bill n 2017 was promotion bonuses, and that recurring wage costs would have been lower than in 2018. That resulted in an operating profit (potentially available for investment, although it also has to pay the tax bill) of £58.9m (2017 loss £55.2m). Looking at player purchases most of that operating profit was in fact spent in 2017. Roughly translated, you spent most of the financial benefits from promotion getting promoted, leaving far less for investment once you got back to the PL.

Nothing overly wrong with Mike.

Got us on an even keel, he could just say fuck it and sell anything he wants and liquidate us in truth.he didn't have to bankroll us back to the PL but he did.
Gets a raw deal from a section of us but in truth his future model might work. Hes already stated on a few occasions he hasn't got the sort of money the top 6 have .dont know what some fans want ffs.
Rafa has form for playing politics, done ok but off you pop, Ashley will sell when he gets his price.A young hungry manager is the way to go .
45k fans will rock up regardless .
