What the fuck?

Sorry what's the issue?

I was responding to a question about why someone would start a fight, the obvious being if they were angry, felt wronged etc...

Are you suggesting its wrong to assume a pregnant woman wanting to protect her baby might not take a bit more precaution to controlling her emotions and avoid engaging in fisticuffs?

How many pregnant women have you met?

"Let’s not lose sight that the unborn baby is the victim here,’’ Reid said. “She had no choice in being brought unnecessarily into a fight where she was relying on her mother for protection."

The 5-month fetus was "dependent on its mother to try to keep it from harm, and she shouldn’t seek out unnecessary physical altercations,” Reid added.

Blessed be the fruit.

Under his eye

The shooter should be charged with manslaughter too. She shot two people, under their law. Maybe she can claim self-defence for shooting the mother, but she also shot the baby who was not attacking her in any way, so she can't claim self-defence in that case. Be like shooting through an innocent bystander to get at the person who was menacing you. Can't have it both ways.

Difficult one.

From the way the article words it, it sounds like she not only started it, she then continued to press for a confrontation afterwards and the "shooter" was defending themselves against her.

Obviously I don't condone any member of the public shooting another member of the public in most circumstances, but depending on how aggressively she was attacking the person who had the gun, there is a line somewhere differentiating between it being the shooter's fault the kid died and it being her fault. Which side of the line this altercation was on is anyone's guess from the writeup alone.

A pregnant woman aggressively attacking someone else is surely to an extent using her unborn baby as a human shield though, isn't she?

Shame the article doesn't go into detail about the altercation as we can't really judge from the information we've been given.

She could have had a gun.

Indeed. Or a knife. Or have been trying to scratch the shooter's eyes out.

There are a number of situations in which it would be clearly her fault. Again, without knowing the details we can't really judge.

This is deep South USA we're talking about. Logical thought doesn't come into it.

Frankly, they probably wanted to blame the shooter as well except they can't possibly legislate anything that limits what people are allowed to do with guns
