This is the kind of comment that probably winds him up. He genuinely thought safc fans just wanted to be reconnected with the club and have players who gave it their all. Now we do have that but some (not all) fans still moan and don't get behind the team because we're not winning matches easily.

I dare say a load would tolerate such football under Allardyce. (I know different level etc but the football barring 3 or 4 games under him wasn't great either)
Aye.. the Fulwell wasn't exactly lively when we were watching Buxtons team and 40000 snoozing trying to watch O'Neills! We've had to put up with some shit over the years but the crowd always responds to the team. The problem is that so many are just f***ing sick of it, lads that used to be the loudest, the mentalist, the most permanently optimistic have been worn down to sitting whinging and eating sweets. The team really does need to lift the crowd.

I would say acquiring 6% of SAFC which he will ultimately sell for millions is fairly decent reward for his efforts.

Hope it does wind the fecker up, and for the record not only were we not winning matches easily, we were not winning them. Actually drew and lost more games than we won . OK he has gone some way towards reconnecting the fans with the club, but to expect us all to flop down at the alter of mediocracy and worship shite football in what has been our worst season ever by some margin is taking the piss.

We’ve been smashing attendance records all season, and it was the 2nd Wembley trip in a couple of months. We’re not all rich Etonians...

The team was beaten both in league position and where it mattered at Wembley by the team he/SD/JR built. The blame lies solely on them and the group of players who were not good enough.
A man of his PR pedigree should of been praising the 35k that had turned up for the second time in 7 wks after taking over 40k for a meaningless cup final and highlighted the distance/cost incurred for such a hard up region.
SD atleast comes out with a I have failed you speech which always goes down well with footy fans.
I'm in no doubt that CM will be made aware of the impending upswell in fans disgust with his comments and no doubt there will be some damage limitation coming out from him soon.

It's like your daughter getting a poncey new boyfriend who says all the right things and butters you up whilst planning their wedding. Keeps putting his hand out telling you how much he loves your daughter and how they will live happily ever after. So you pay for the dress, then the venue, the food, the flowers, the suits then with a weeks notice says he needs spends for the honeymoon too. You tell him you're maxed out so on the wedding day he stands up says your speech wasn't funny enough and you're a shit Dad who has ruined his big day.
I can think of loads of analogies but that one would never be one of them mate . Is it a true story

He asked us to turn up in big numbers for Boxing Day and we did. We’ve then broke the record average attendance for the league this season and had to suffer two Wembley losses now with between 35,000 and 39,000 fans there to see it. The team need to start inspiring the fans now not the other way round. We’re in the third tier and we can’t even do well at that. Saying he wants 100 points next season is also ludicrous. When we got 105 the team was full of quality players who went on to finish 7th in the Premier League the next season and we blew teams away in the Championship week in week out. To get 100 points we’ll need a team of half decent Championship players playing attacking football not the shite Ross signed this season or the way Ross played this season.

I don't mind him say we were quiet (we are/were quiet). Suggesting noise or having less fans there than Charlton meant we didn't go up is pathetic.
This season we've broke average attendance for the league, broke single game attendance, broke checkatrade final attendance (with pompey), took about 8k to Blackpool, have travelled in such large numbers home team have been moving their ST holders and nearly every other sides highest attendance at home this season has been against us. We even bought tickets for other people when Methven used disadvantaged fans as a sales pitch to earn money

At that stage, just being quiet for a while - or at least saying nothing controversial - and making a point of listening would have helped.
The odd thing is that when that has arrived, minutes after a playoff final defeat, the bloke who is supposedly here for his PR ability is going on like a Grade A tit.
Almost as if the mask has slipped and he is, in fact, a Grade A tit.

I said earlier in the thread that this was where the mask had slipped and I believe this to be the case now after other previous comments. I don’t buy the fact his interview was based on raw emotion alone. He is just really coming across as a bit of a prick to be honest. The total opposite of Donald really in terms of addressing and respecting the fan base.

Arguably our quietest 46,000 plus crowd in our entire history.. For me the numbers have been great this season, but the lack of vocal support has continued the trend of recent years..

We struggled past bottom placed Bradford City 1-0 at home in league 1 mate. The fact the whole place smelled like rotten Xmas dinner due to excessive flatulence was rather apt in my view!

Sad that crowd participation at Sunderland these days seems reliant on the teams performance.. We could learn a thing or two about this from a lot of the lower league clubs..
