This is the kind of comment that probably winds him up. He genuinely thought safc fans just wanted to be reconnected with the club and have players who gave it their all. Now we do have that but some (not all) fans still moan and don't get behind the team because we're not winning matches easily. It’s cos we are in League 1 and play turgid, uninspiring, unexciting football.
It was jumping in the last two games v Chelsea and Everton under Big Sam. There has been fuck all to be excited about since then other than these two Wembley games and the manager bottled both of them. No the wonder the fans don’t seem “up for it”. How can we be expected to be if our players and manager aren’t?
I dare say a load would tolerate such football under Allardyce. (I know different level etc but the football barring 3 or 4 games under him wasn't great either)This is the kind of comment that probably winds him up. But our fans were piss poor and have been for most games this season.. As I say, we need to acknowledge this if we are ever going to rectify it.. You don't need a great team to have great vocal support and great vocal support can make a difference..
Early 1970s Fullwell End was bouncing even when we were shit.. This was the case until the mid 1980s when things did deteriorate.
I would say acquiring 6% of SAFC which he will ultimately sell for millions is fairly decent reward for his efforts.Non paid
Hope it does wind the fecker up, and for the record not only were we not winning matches easily, we were not winning them. Actually drew and lost more games than we won . OK he has gone some way towards reconnecting the fans with the club, but to expect us all to flop down at the alter of mediocracy and worship shite football in what has been our worst season ever by some margin is taking the piss. This is the kind of comment that probably winds him up. Agree.Asked about whether we’re too big for league one, he deflects the question with this
“Sunderland fans need to get realistic on that... and they had 40000 fans there to our 34000 fans today so on sheer size of club it’s hard to say that Charlton were the ones who had to stay down”
We’ve been smashing attendance records all season, and it was the 2nd Wembley trip in a couple of months. We’re not all rich Etonians...
This should never had made it to 60 pages, genuinely can’t believe there’s Sunderland fans out there defending these comments.

I can think of loads of analogies but that one would never be one of them mate . Is it a true storyIt's like your daughter getting a poncey new boyfriend who says all the right things and butters you up whilst planning their wedding. Keeps putting his hand out telling you how much he loves your daughter and how they will live happily ever after. So you pay for the dress, then the venue, the food, the flowers, the suits then with a weeks notice says he needs spends for the honeymoon too. You tell him you're maxed out so on the wedding day he stands up says your speech wasn't funny enough and you're a shit Dad who has ruined his big day.

There was always going to be a time when things weren't running as smoothly as any of us would like.
At that stage, just being quiet for a while - or at least saying nothing controversial - and making a point of listening would have helped.
The odd thing is that when that has arrived, minutes after a playoff final defeat, the bloke who is supposedly here for his PR ability is going on like a Grade A tit.
Almost as if the mask has slipped and he is, in fact, a Grade A tit.
He asked us to turn up in big numbers for Boxing Day and we did. We’ve then broke the record average attendance for the league this season and had to suffer two Wembley losses now with between 35,000 and 39,000 fans there to see it. The team need to start inspiring the fans now not the other way round. We’re in the third tier and we can’t even do well at that. Saying he wants 100 points next season is also ludicrous. When we got 105 the team was full of quality players who went on to finish 7th in the Premier League the next season and we blew teams away in the Championship week in week out. To get 100 points we’ll need a team of half decent Championship players playing attacking football not the shite Ross signed this season or the way Ross played this season.
Arguably our quietest 46,000 plus crowd in our entire history.. For me the numbers have been great this season, but the lack of vocal support has continued the trend of recent years..
Sad that crowd participation at Sunderland these days seems reliant on the teams performance.. We could learn a thing or two about this from a lot of the lower league clubs..We struggled past bottom placed Bradford City 1-0 at home in league 1 mate. The fact the whole place smelled like rotten Xmas dinner due to excessive flatulence was rather apt in my view!
